New to Rotarys, but not Mazdas

Hey everyone, been lurking here for awhile and decided to finally join. I was just given a 2007 phantom blue GT. My aunt is extremly wealthy and decided she didnt want it anymore.
It has 15k miles, never seen rain, snow or any weather besides ideal conditions. It has sand interior i guess.

Anything i should know? I know you have to premix, buuut thats about it. Any common problems? She says that the coolant light is on.

Any insight on these cars would be great.

The coolant light is very common and caused by a faulty sensor in the coolant tank. You'll need to replace the tank to get rid of the light. Here.

Premixing isn't an absolute necessity, but it does have reported benefits in engine longevity. Possible downsides are a bit more carbon in the engine due to the extra oil. A rotary engine builder once told me that the standard oil supply into the engine is a bit lean up the top of the rev range, so thats where the premixed oil will help your apex seals the best.

Give the car the best fuel you can find. In Australia, thats BP Ultimate 98 octane. Not sure what it is in the States. I can notice a difference when I use standard premium 95 instead of 98, its not as liquid smooth, especially up above 6000rpm.

Other than that, drive it in a spirited fashion, keep the oil level topped up, and always make sure your ignition system is in good condition. Poor ignition will ruin a rotary engine.

And enjoy!!!

Nice man, and it is a very rare combo, I have only seen one other besides yours in all these years here and I have been to a crap ton of RX-8 meets all over the country and I have never seen a PB with the Sand interior in person.

Very very nice.

I'm not a fan of the sand myself, I think it shows wear and dirt too much. But it is for sure a rare and beautiful combo.

Congrats, again I'll say read the threads in my SIG.
