Need Help
Just noticed today after having my 8 for about a month that when you push the throttle all the way down it has a very throaty roar that is not heard when gradually accelerating to about 8500rpm. IfIi floor it around 4000rpm the noise does not occur until about 6300rpm. is this normal? I also noticed i do not have a VFAD could that be causing the issue?

Ok, good.
Oh and welcome to the club.
Have you noticed a flashing CEL while driving or under heavy load?
Flashing check engine light means a misfire.
Coils are a very very common issue with the RX8. If you don't know how old they are you should just change them.
Poorly functioning coils can lead to a lot of un-burnt fuel to the catalytic which will ruin it.
Which is another very common issue on these cars, clogged or broken catalytic.
All I can say is if you are sure you don't have a vac leak (which would likely cause a System to Lean condition) then I would start with inspecting the plugs and testing the coils with a HEI Coil tester.
Is the stock intake still on, just the vflad has been removed?
