new to this thread new to rx8 does anyone know a not to expensive place to get the rx8 r2 engine at

where are you located?
are you looking for a rebuilt motor? Core exchange?

To build upon the Sith Lord's questions - Exactly what's going on with your engine? Do you know it's shot or is it just giving you symptoms of low compression that you haven't verified? I know what an R3 is, but highly unsure if there was ever an R2. Are you talking about a series 2 RX8? What years are we talking here? Automatic? Manual? Once we've got more information we can point you in the direction of where to start instead of just jumping straight to "I need an engine lulz."

I've seen some parts websites refer to twin rotor engines as R2 (as opposed to I4 or V8).

Ahh yeah that would make more sense, I always thought it meant the first gen. It's probably for the twin rotor

And all USDM Hyundai Elantras have 4 cylinders, they're still listed as "I4" in some parts websites. It's just standardized nomenclature.
