Almost an RX8
New RX8 owner here hanging out in the new owner purgatory forum.
So here's what got me here....
-'74 VW super beetle. Swapped in a 12A and started build an S4 13B to upgrade
-project cars went on pause as I spent all my free time and a lot of not-so-free time finishing up school and building a few FSAE cars
-bought an '85 RX7 to stuff my aforementioned 13B into, proceeded to daily this "project car" for 3 years. I just turned over 200k miles on it. somehow it's been stupid reliable. Keep oil in it and redline it daily is all it needs.
-finished school, bought a house, got married, and picked up a 2004 RX8 with a popped engine to suff said 13B into...
The RX8 is a 6sp Touring with a broken clutch pedal bracket, failing MOP sensor, and cooked side seals. She starts and runs pretty well after doing the tap dance on the brake pedal to clear limp mode. The resulting clouds of smoke are pretty effective at keeping the mosquitos away too. As soon as the Harbor Freight engine hoist gets here the renesis will be coming out.
The S4 13b is a 6 port with a street port. Intake is a JW Performance with a 4 barrel style throttle body. For now I'll be running the stock RX8 exhaust with a OBX header to get a base map down. 60-1 hifi will go in over the winter.
I'll be running a stand alone ECU and the only thing I'm really left guessing on is what the bare minimum I'll need to keep the stock ECU working well enough to drive the steering rack, climate control. I would really like to just yank the stock ecu and harness but I'm not about to get into spoofing CAN signals.
