Thanks I appreciate your trying to help. If you feel I have over priced, what do you think they are worth?

I had several people tell me $1800 was fair, so I went with $1600.

The tires are brand new and worth $924 from Tire Rack (the cheapest I've seen them). The rims, even curbed were going for around $250+ a peice from a salvage yard, a year ago when I needed one. Mounting and balancing 4 of these tires is around $100 and one new TPMS sensor is $90, shall we price 4 used ones at say $60. That alone is about $2100.

A quick check and it looks like the rims in my condition are going for more around $125-$150. So that would put the overall package at about a price of $1584 if I use the $125 price.

So you would you sugest $1400 is more reasonable by your thinking?

I don't make a living buying and selling car parts. I however have recently sold my 8 and have a few things to sell, I'm trying to be honest and get a fair price.

You think I should split the package apart? Sell the tires on there own? The rims on their own and the sensors on there own?

i bought mine stockies in pretty decent shape with TPMS with tires that have 60% tread on them for 300 bucks. although the guy who sold them was a buddy of mine so it was a little better of a deal than most would get. you're not gonna be able to sell them for that much here unless they are r3 wheels maybe. i would say ask more around 700-900 if you want to be able to sell them.

Thanks SamPappas. And can I say, you have one heck of a nice friend!

I don't know that I can go that low. The tires alone are worth more than $900.

i know that's what you paid for them. but when it gets down to it you just aren't going to get that much out of them. best of luck in your sales though, i would try to sell them on ebay.

Thanks again SamPappas.

I've dropped the price down a bit further, but I think from what a few have suggested, Craigslist is probably the way to go.

well put.

it's a shame these 245/40s, too much side wall for my 3, which is what I'm looking for. glws though!

Would you be interested in selling the tires by themselves?

I could consider it, if the price was worth it. I'm not a mechanic and don't have access to a free shop, so that means paying someone to break the tires down... if you are serious, I will enquire as to how much that will run me.

Though I kind of think some of the value is in the fact that these thinfs are ready to be driven away! Already mounted and balanced for free basically.

sorry for bumping this, but did you sell these wheels? If someone is interested in just the tires, I will take the wheels!

Hi Dgross7,

Thanks for the bump! I've been kinda busy this summer and let this task slip on me! lol

Yes, the tire package is still available. I would be happy to split if someone is interested in the tires. I'll call my local dealer who mounted the tires and see how much they want to split them appart.

I would probably not split them until I knew I had a buyer on both sides of the deal as having them mounted and balanced for free seems like a nice selling point in general I think???

Or if you want to buy the package and then sell off the tires, I'm cool with that as well, of course

Ok, sounds like splitting is about $40 for the set. I'm sure there are cheaper places that might take a couple of bucks off of that, but I'm going somewhere I know and trust and don't have to worry about them destroying the rims or the tires pressure sensors.

So with that in mind, if you want to do the rims with sensors for $375 and can find someone interested in the tires for say $600, I'll eat the time and the difference in cost of splitting the package!

And we can throw the free mount and balance up to the tire gods as an offering of happy motoring.

Those tires are worth at least $600.....they are expensive for a reason. Those Bridgestone pole positions......frankly the best tire I've ever tried, in every condition.

Wish this was going on when I hadnt just bought new tires!

Good luck with the sale....your prices are more than reasonable.

PS- if you are going to break them down, I wouldn't just "throw in" the tire pressure sensors. A new set runs about $180, depending where you shop, the set of 4 is certainly worth $100 sold on these forums, and are something that people frequently need so you probably will find a buyer.

Thanks Elysium19,

I was enjoying the tires for the few days they were on the car, though I didn't have a chance to really play as they mostly saw a few days of me commuting to work in mostly slow traffic... so really a few fun turns into the road at my appartment complex and that was about all.

It was suggested to me, by someone else that "is in the know", that most tire shops would sell them as brand new on the floor if they had less than 300-500 miles... so I think the price is more than reasonable.

As for the sensors, they sell New, for closer to twice what you quoted from Mazda, however I agree with you that I think one can find them cheaper from places like Tire Rack. All in all, I'm trying to be fair and honest, and when I searched the forum, it appears that used sensors are going for about $75 and used rims in my condition for about $300-$400. Considering the sensors are on the older side, I figured $375 is reasonable for both.

The package combined (rims, sensors, tires) already mounted and balanced I thought made a very attractive offer. I guess we will see!

Curiously, the sensors look a lot like the ones in my Toyota Trucks rims, I suppose if I do split the package I could sell the rims without sensors for like $325 and do some research on the sensors to see if I can use them on the winter rims I'll be buying for my truck this winter...

Had a request for a closeup of the scratch on the fourth rim. Included is a closeup as well as a second shot with the edge of the rim.

The scratch is more of a rub and does not really have any depth to it, really very minor... there is a little curb rash on the lip of the rim which is probably of more interest. Nothing that is functionaly an issue however.

If anyone is interested in the tires at $600, I'll split the package. I think this may mean I have a set of sensors available for $75 as well.

Assuming Dgross7 is still interested in the rims, I'll split the package for someone who is interested in the wheels for $600.

Sorry to back out, but MA is further than what I thought I could do. I actually do not know when I would have a free day or two to drive up anyway.

Looks like the tires have come down a bit on Tire Rack so I'm adjusting my asking price down to $930.

Or I'm willing to split the rims and tires... $580 for the tires, $375 for the rims with sensors.

Looks like the person who was interested in the wheels decided to buy New over the weekend!

So the whole package is back on the market. If someone wants just the rims, I have a buyer interested in the sensors.
