Are you talking about the Tien Flex?

I guess i'll have to do some more searching and look at google images.

RTV should be good and hardened tonight when i get home. Hopefully she'll fire over again like before with no issues. And hopefully the leak is gone now.. Time will tell.

I am going to have to get tires directly. I noticed last night my RR is almost bald the LR is not far behind it.
Hopefully they will hold out till it's tuned well so i can get it inspected again.
It's going to be a bit of a pickle honestly. The tires are going bald in the rear and im sure i need an alignment. I have to get it inspected but can't till i get tires. And it'll be a bitch to get tires unless i can get it inspected lol. Most places around here do one or the other.
I have a few ideas but im just hoping they hold up so Brett can finish my tune.

Always at work. Always tired. I really want to take a nap.. But i haven't taken a nap in at least 5 years.. also, can't nap at work...

Travis

Edit:

I also ordered a 4 port boost solenoid to replace my current 3 port.

I am a little confused on why you need an inspection to get tires, tyres, ahh eff it... is that a local thing? I just take my wheels off the car, throw them in my truck and go to local shop to mount and balance for me. They never even see the car...

Because the tires/rims on it are 17.
New ones are 18. Need to re align. The guy who does my inspections doesn't do tires or alignments. My local tire shop doesn't do alignments.

The only place I could do it all at once Is jack Williams and I refuse because eventually the ******* behind the counter is going to get yanked over and get the **** kicked outa him.
He's an ******* ALL the time. And it's not just me, I've asked around. Not sure how he keeps his job honestly.

So my plan is do get the tires mounted on the rims and put em on. Drive down for an inspection then go for an alignment lol
Or something like that

Yeah tein flex, and go get the lifetime alignment from firestone. That way everytime you adjust the shocks or do anything suspension/wheel related just go get another.

Anyway, so S techs are not a huge drop. Hmm..

S techs or mabye MS with KYB's.

We have a couple of people on that setup locally. One guy went to the Tein Basis and likes them. You just don't get adjustable dampening, only height adjustment. But like I said, the dampening adjustments on most cheap coil overs don't do **** anyway.

Those are what i have, Axis Hilo's in Anthracite with a polished lip. 18x8.5. I'll hopefully be taking them this weekend to get new tires wrapped on em.
IIRC we discussed the tire size, i believe IIRC again (i have it written down) we said 240-45-18 but maybe it was 245-40-18. 245-40-18

S techs go up for sale it seems pretty often. So more than likely i'll pick a set up and some KYB's.

I love the glow on that 8. Im taking mine to be professionally detailed just after i get an alignment and inspection. Simply because it's terrible ATM and i have more important things to worry about than cleaning and polishing it.

9k, where did you get your low profile filter?

Does anyone know of any grill inserts for a stock bumper? As in a replacement for the black "mesh". I um... had to remove it for my intake/filter to fit..
Or am i up ***** crick without a paddle and have to make one?

Lol^

My next set of wheels will be 19's. Haven't decide what kind yet. Maybe 19x9 this time instead of 18x8.5

Okay,

Well not too much of an update here.

My MAC solenoid came in. With the weather being in the negative teen's i decided to wait to install it. I havent even gone up to look at her since i verified the leak is gone.
I'll do one more check, I.E. jack up the car, visual inspection of all area's that had leaked, start the car let it get up to operating temp over some cardboard to see if any drips appear.

Im really hoping the weather channel is correct and it'll warm up for this Friday so i can get the solenoid installed and some driving time in. I obviously still need to go get tires and an inspection..

Again, freezing and lots of snow and ice.

umm... yea thats it for now.

Okay guys,

I need tire thoughts. Stock is 225,45,18 iirc.
Only things that's changed is the new rims are 18x8.5.

So, suggested tire size for stock suspension.

245,40,18?
235,40,18?

245/40-18. Remember the numbers on tires are more a general guide, you can have two different brands of say a 245/40-18 and yet they can be very different in actual weight and size. Look at the actual specs (weight, overall diameter, section width, etc). There is a topic about this with a table I created that compares them and you will see differences.

But generally speaking 245/40-18 is designed to fit a 8"-9.5" wheel. Same for a 245/35-18.

Thanks guys.
245-40-18 it is..

I have an appt coming up, they have many different tires in stock. It's a firestone complete auto care.

Time to look and choose.

Okay, well I was talking to my wife. Basically I wanted to keep her in the loop that I've been looking for a new bike.
She was okay with it at first. Then started talking about all the money I dropped on the 8.
The point to this story is I have to sell off some excess stuff and she'll be okay with a new bike lol.

I have to go through all my stuff as I have a good bit of used parts.
I purchased a NOS kit from a member a while back that I'll be getting rid of and some other small stuff.

It's a sad but happy day lol

Okay well lets run this up to current day.

First off i managed to get my hands on a 99 ZX7R. It has a few issue's i'm working through. One of the major ones was a stuck float needle and paint in a carb. I've managed to clean all the paint out and just received the new float needles and seats. I have some fiberglass work i need to do. It's another project but it'll be nice by next riding season. I'm still hoping to get at least one run in just to verify everything is working as it should once everything goes back together of course.

We have put an offer in on a house, just did the inspections. Everything has come out pretty much as we anticipated and we are currently waiting for the VA appraiser to come look at the house.

Now to the 8.. Well everything was going great up until my son was born ..

The car sat for a week. Literally only a week. I didn't touch it, not a bit. Went to go to Walmart and wanted to take the car. Crank Crank Crank, no start. Did a full deflood to include removing the plugs and cranking to flush everything out. Got her to fire but she was idling really rough for a few seconds. Revved it up to about 6k, let it drop off and everything is normal again.
It fired up perfectly hot after a long drive, no issues. Let it sit till it was cold (at my parents house) and had the same issue only i didn't have to pull the plugs, eventually it just fired.

This happened two more times and now nothing. Just cranks.... I drained my battery already trying to get it to fire. I pulled the injectors, gave them a full cleaning. I cleaned the ESS and MAF off. Still no go.
Checked compression and now i'm normalized at mid to low 5's across the board.. Now i have seen personally motors start with low 5's high 4's with NO issue's... Mine just doesn't seem to be one of those.
I'm going to check my coils etc to make sure i'm getting a good strong spark. I know i'm getting fuel. No vac leaks that i can find, no blown fuses.. So i'm thinking that this motor is just toast..

When i go to move now i'm going to coast it down the hill and try and pop start it. Hopefully it'll fire and i can drive her to her new home to have open heart surgery again. If not i'll pull off at the bottom of the hill and have her towed.
The original plan was to have Scott (RX8PERFORMANCE) build me a motor meant to handle some boost. Sadly with the new house, new baby, new bike and a few other things that just does not seem financially smart on my part.
So my hopes are that once i am into the new house (within a week of moving in hopefully). I will be able to find a good compression motor out of maybe a wrecked 8 or something like that.

A few salvage yards within 200 miles have a few that are in wrecked 8's so if worse comes to worst i will drive to each and comp test them myself until i find a good motor.. It's a big difference paying 5k+ compared to 1k to 1500.

Either way i see this as a building point. At least i managed to get the kit in and running (with a few known issue's) and i can build off of that.

I will change my Intake, turbo coolant lines, turbo oil feed line, fans, turbo hot section and make sure it mates with the manifold perfectly(this time), a host of wiring, a gauge, a new oil catch can, changing front bumper, sanding to repaint (my pops will paint it) adding an intake tray. Honestly it seems like a lot but most of this stuff wont take me long at all now as i know where it's going and what changes i have to make. Prior proper planning is key

So yea, we should be moved into the new house somewhere between OCT 10th and the 24th IIRC.
If anyone has a lead on a good comp motor around that time i would GREATLY appreciate a link to it.

It's not like i'm doing it on purpose Dark one.

The bike was messed up when i got it. I'm waiting on a float needle and basket yet.

Should have it fired and running on Saturday.

As for the 8 like i said, once i move into the new house i'll be hunting for a good comp motor from a wreck.

Nope not yet. Getting close to the funds amount so I can keep the sc. May go NA and see if its ok then sell the sc. Or put back on the sc. But either way, I won't need the funds from the sc to fund the motor.
