RX8 involved in fatal crash

The news story doesn't say if the fatality was the driver of the RX8 or the driver of the Buick. Sad story to read regardless. RIP Mr. Wolowski.

Sad day.

The car that caught on fire had the fatality, and it's hard to tell from the video, but it looks like the passenger compartment area of the 8 doesn't have any fire/smoke marks. The Buick being older would be the more fire prone one, and the cabin is mangled enough that it could have also been on fire.

Just theory, but I'd guess it was the driver of the 8 at fault. Not a good representation of our community.

Yeah, I had the same thought. A couple in their late 50s is more likely to be in a Buick versus an RX8.

I personally don't think what someone is driving defines them or the community of that particular vehicle. Doesn't make much difference if he was driving a truck, or vette, or anything. Just because someone makes the decisions they make with a vehicle doesn't means it's that vehicles fault. That irresponsible driver could have done the same thing with a geo metro.

I entirely agree.

Unfortunately the larger populous doesn't agree.

I mean, even we are subject to stereotyping others with our comments about "civic drivers", as an example, or "prius drivers" as another. In general, regardless of whether that driver was part of the community or not, plenty of people in that area will have a lessening of opinion of RX-8 owners and/or sports car owners. If it was a drunk soccer mom, the same thing would occur as well, just a different target. Like it or not, we all represent the community and sports cars as a whole, and what we do on the road as individuals impacts the perception of the whole.

Every mistake can be tied to making a bad decision. I've never known anybody to intentionally go out and get drunk so that they can commit DUI.

I have drove drunk plenty of times in my younger days. Not everyone is perfect and lives life as a saint. You live and learn (well most of the time anyway).

The video clearly shows a silver RX8 on the flat bed though.

Curse of the sunlight silver again?

The rotary concept blows peoples minds to the point that they just make up what they think it is.
