On Labor Day weekend, the Rolex Vintage Festival Presented by BMW celebrated sports car racing history for car aficionados and race fans, alike. Many commemorative events inundated the weekend in addition to vintage racing. Rolex USA brought its superb "Moments in Time" motorsports exhibit to the Vintage Festival, featuring many memorable cars, including the 1971 Tyrrell-Ford driven by Jackie Stewart to his second Formula One World Championship. BMW also has a major presence, marking the 25th anniversary of the legendary M1 and the 20th anniversary of BMW's 1983 Formula One World Championship. Bugatti brought the new Veryron 16.4, a 16-cylinder super car powered by four turbochargers that develops 1,001 horsepower at 6,000 rpm. During the Elite Concours car show fourteen "Circle of Excellence Awards" were presented, including the first-ever Rolex Grand Champion that was given to Joel Finn's 1938 Maserati 8C. Best in Show went to a 1951 Jaguar Mark V owned by Jerry Robinson. The racing portion of the Rolex Vintage Festival consisted of more than 200 racecars and nine race groups, spanning six decades of classics from the pre-war era to history Trans-Am cars from the mid-1960s to early 1970s.
