For oil changes I go to Faulkner Hyundai in Northeast Philly (talk to Todd or Jim), which used to be Faulkner Mazda (have had BAD experiences, two of them, with the current Faulkner Mazda in Trevose.) I've heard bad stuff about North Penn in Colmar, but they actually saved my butt when it came to fixing the $800 mess Faulkner Mazda left me with. I dealt with a supervisor there, Jorge C. (if I'm remembering the name right) and he really went above and beyond to get everything right. I had a really bad experience with their body shop, which Jorge also took care of. I'll have to look into JPR and Kennedy, though, because I really don't have anybody for anything more than oil changes (which no, I don't do myself because I'm a girl, and old. lol) I also would like to have a good body shop on speed dial which, thank god I haven't needed this year, but after last year's trifecta, I would like to have someone available. Suggestions, anyone?

PA P2259 is back on my 2004 gran touring rx8 winning blue.

They asked no questions about it and they did not charge me with running diagnostics. Other dealerships have been reluctant to do what I tell them to do and they always charge me $50 for diagnostics. I also provided the part which kept the cost of my visit low. I thought that labor cost was normal. Just out of curiosity I asked them how much the passenger side motor mount costs (I will need to change it soon) and they charge 3 times more than Mazmart. I guess the price is normal for dealerships
I had previously made a post explaining how recently purchased 2004 rx8 in May From PA Auto Select. Car has 51,900 (purchased with 51,117) and within a day driving from Downingtown to NE Philly the engine light came on. Had them check it that following Monday and they said was p2259. They cleared it thought was some kind of "power to sec air pump" again drove home about a day later came back on. I even checked it at Auto zone and same code. I went back today (would of last week but just over 2 week cold) and again they looked at it. There only mechanic "Bruce" again cleared light and after being there for 3+ hours seems to really not have handle on how to resolve this. I mentioned how I felt was an Air Solenoid issue and he printed out a Diagnostic Trouble Code Sheet with Step 1 through 10 mentioning go here if this happens or go there if (NO) etc. So my dilemma is I don't think he is competent to do the job and seeing your post would like any feedback how to rresolve this matter. I have put over 800 miles on the car while the light continues to be on. Car seems to drive ok with no issue's except when I go in PARK or even stopped traffic notice rev idles slight erratic every so often. Usually falls below 1 to third line. Just sort of gives a feeling like the idle dropped but it never stalls out etc. The recourse PA AUTO offered was to leave couple days let him tinker with it or offered me a financial compensation of $800 to take to get fixed...thus a settlement and being have 1000 miles or 1 month per warranty they gave me on engine or trans. So I took the $800 today. I live in NE PHILLY and really want this resolved. Any idea on prices?? I see you chose Kennedy. Can I get parts before to save money and have them do the work? I see in your post that worked for you. Any help greatly appreciated! Just don't want to drive this too long like this!

^Hi aussie_nate and welcome to the club.

P2259 could be a result of a broken wire, dirty connectors, or a non-functioning valve. There is a lot of good info in this forum around this code. Here is some info on where to locate the valve: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tro...lenoid-171612/

If you have the tools and the time it is really not hard to get to the solenoid. Make sure the wire seems ok and the connectors are clean. If wires and connectors look ok, then the valve is probably not working. You can buy the valve pretty cheap from a forum vendor. I believe I bought mine from Mazmart for something around $70. Another place to look for parts is at "onlinemazdaparts.com". The dealership charged me $180 to install the part.

If you want to make the trip to central Jersey I would be more than happy to help you. Otherwise Speed 1 is probably the closest to you. JPR is another option.

Does speed 1 specifically work with rx7`s also? I may be able to get my hands on a 7 very cheap but it is in need of a lot of work.

They actually prefer 7s but not sure how they'd feel about a poc getting dropped on em. The bigger the project the bigger the chance of buyers remorse.

JPR in Blackwood, NJ has tons of experience working on all rotaries for decades, and has done all manners of RX project cars.
