F1 Karting in Boston area
Just a heads up about a really fun ride at F1 karting just south of Boston (F1 Outdoors Kart Racing Track Offers Corporate Events, Pro Racing, Racing Schools and Camps). BMW Club had a "Race Day" there last Saturday, about 30 drivers.
What a blast! It was wet all the time, pouring rain much of the time. The karts had race slicks on. Simply applying RX-8 track experience made for a blast to drive on this outdoor track, and since I'd never been in a kart before, I was impressed. Full racing suit, full helmet and brace supplied - but I brought my own helmet. The karts easily drift on corners like a Top Gear episode. Add in the rain, and slipping and sliding is built in. Hard on racing, some contact addmisable, you could easily brake into terminal understeer on wet corner entry, dive into a corner taking someone out on the inside line, and exit with the tail hanging out under almost full power feathering the throttle to stay on the edge of grip.
My average speed around the .8 mile track was 37.77 miles a hour, about half my RX-8 average speed, but way more than half as much fun
Check it out if you get a chance. A fun ride.
