This is an odd request but I am looking to see if someone around the North side of Chicago might be interested in trading cars for a few days.

Let me explain, I have been battling Mazda for a while on gas mileage and the dealer and I have come to the conclusion that I need to drive another 8 to see what another RX-8's mileage would be compared to mine. Of course they will not help in this matter by providing a car so I am on my own to find one, drive my normal route for maybe 5 week days and record the gas mileage.

So I'm starting off by seeing if anyone is even interested in this offer. My car is a 05 RX-8 GT with 5 spd, leather, sun roof, ect. I have only 7K miles on it. It has a Race beat exhaust system and I run Avon All Season ultra performance tires 40/245/18 they are about an inch wider then stock.

I'm looking for an RX-8 that gets good mileage, for an RX-8 that is, is a 5 spd, no engine mods and is owned by someone who I would feel comfortable trading cars with. Like wise you would have to feel comfortable trading cars with me. If you find any interest in this offer please let me know.

I'm getting 12mpg in the city. When I say in the city it is mostly near city suburbs Norridge. I get 18 to 20 on the highway. The highway seems normal or at least acceptable but the city is killing me. I have hit as low as 11.5mpg and when I ran a tank full not revving beyond 3K I was able to get 13.5mpg. On top of this my oil consumption is around 750 mile per quart and has been as low as 550 miles per qt. Only once was it a little over 1000.

I get around 13 mpg city around Detroit with a 6-speed MT and it doesn't matter how I drive it ... so guess how I drive it! It's so dang fun to drive, I don't care what the mileage is or what gas costs ... I'll pay it!

On road trip to Mississippi a couple weeks ago, I got 23 mpg driving 5-10 over the speed limit, windows up, A/C off.

Mine goes through a quart of oil every 1500 miles.
