Title says it all.
Will be at McDonald, im thinking start show about 10am ish and head off at 11am. With the quick map I did in google maps it is 2hr 46min. Im not indorsing any speeding or other violations but if things are the same we should beat that time. This will put us down there about 2pm. They have grills and there are other food options near by. Feel free to offer any input.
start point
501 Old Smizer Mill Rd, Fenton, MO 63026 (McDonald's Hamburgers)
we will be driving just out side Hillsboro, De Soto, and Potosi. We can stop half way or 2/3 the way there but i would say fill up before we head out its about 77 miles each way so a full tank should get you there and back.
To keep up to date, I look at rx7club.com more than this one so check there for updates feel free to PM me on either forum.
I would be interested but most of us have a meet in Columbia that saturday so im not sure if most of them are gonna be interested, you may wanna post links to this in the STL meet thread as well. why cant this be another weekend?!
Columbia is roughly around 2 hours away from STL, i live east of the river, and go to school at Mizzou so i have made the drive hundreds of times. Most of the active STL rx8s have said there gonna try and come out to Columbia on saturday. not many active STL rx8 members to start with, but this would have been fun.
I can see why I missed that meet mention, it's buried on page 20. I don't know what midwestce is, I'm not going to register to find out. But I assume it's open to any cars. If so, that's not really what us life-long rotary guys are into, rotaries are our own little world ... and we like to keep it that way About as far outside as I'll stray is a Miata, or a Mazdaspeed 3. I'm certainly not hanging out with any Honda owners
In the future, if you want to plan a meet you should start a tread about it with all the pertinent info in the first post. Rotary only meets always take precedence here too
glad to see Mizzou people on here, yea the reason its buried on page 20 is because we've scheduled a few meets in there and then rescheduled them and instead of making a new thread everytime we just continued to use that one.
I understand what your sayin but we already had this goin so im not just gonna drop this to drive back to STL for that meet but others may (i hope they do! this sounds fun and i will be interested to get something like this goin again if the weather stays nice or maybe again in the spring). i posted in both of those other St louis threads telling people about this meet so if they are interested or dont wanna drive out to columbia they can get the info.
midwestce is a car entusiasts club that a couple of the STL guys are on, much like STLSR or any other large online car forum for St louis. most of the "older" crowd is no longer active here or if they are they sure dont post, so i dont know if there are any life long rotary heads from St Louis on here anymore, the average age at our last meet was in the lower 20s most likely, so for most of us this is our first rotary. and that meet just brought about more members from that same age unaware of the site. Honestly, i wish there was still that older crowd on here, because they knew a large amount about our cars that is not as prevelent now.
As for the cars, most of the cars on midwestce are nicely tuned, theres not to much rice there. but yes there will be cars of all types, old school muscle, exotics, imports. So it should be a good time, i just enjoy spending time with individuals who share the same passion i have for cars no matter what type of make or model it has, but yet again i would love to have another rotary only meet!
But for future meets can we get a thread a little earlier than a week before, if we would have known about this im sure most of the rx8s on here would have prefered to do this, expecially myself as i've never been nor heard of elaphanet rocks so keep us posted on any future meets!!
Well I'm all for working together on getting some STL events going again. We used to have 8-10 a year, and 50+ cars at many of them. It'll take some work, but I'm glad to see somebody enthusiastic.
Let's each do our own thing this coming weekend. No problem having 2 events. And I'll try and get the 'old' STL guys like me back in the swing of things.
BTW, your car sounds pretty sweet, and I noticed you're into getting some nice pics of it. I did Pro Motorsports pics for about 4 years, and had my own print magazine where I did all the photography. We should meet up sometime just to do a shoot.
Yea we really need to get some meets goin on! i know there are about 10 or so guys on here that would be interested for sure, i wish we had some time to get a meet before the bad weather hits but i doubt that will be able to happen with the time frame.
Yea if you still talk to them try and get them to come back, atleast just to post on the STL area threads and come out to meets, there is so much to learn about our cars, and the guys that use to be on here were extremely knowledgeable!!
Thanks for the compliment! Its still got some work to get put into it on the little things and i dont have much done to the engine bay because of lack of funds but hopefully things will keep progressing slowly! Pro Motorsports...REALLY!! i have always wanted to get some professional pics of my car, so i would be EXTREMELY interested. make sure and take some pics this weekend im interested to see what this elephant rock place is like, i may join rx7club just to keep up with the STL members on there. Then if there is any meets or anything we can get both sites in on the meets.
any way hope you will make it Ryan, I think the last time we both made it to a meet was Ben's going away party. I do miss the old gang and would love to get you 8 guy's *girls if any* to show.
For all that will not make this drive I plan on a Dyno day in March, Did this three times back in the day and was a blast each time.
8's are not easy to dyno from what i have been told, something to do with the traction control. but is still fun. Hell I ran my NA FC. Regardless its a blast just to be there.
well i dont have the dsc button, but i will still make it out there for the next meet, as i said i know a couple of guys on here would love to get a huge meet goin
Sucks, gonna be in Chicago this weekend - next one!
Should have let us know. We have a big event at the Autobaun on Saturday. Yesterday was the deadline for signing up.

Well I just ran into this thread.... and yeah I'll be going to Colombia on the 10th. Couldn't make it Sunday anyways because of prior commitments but that drive sounds like it could be really alot of fun and just like perks this is my first rotary so I'm still open to pistons haha. That being said I'd love to see a pure rotary meet we should start planning a big one but lets give it some advanced planning
If it looks like we will have any more good days this year we can get a section of the chuck-a-burger parking lot. I know the owners son, he said to give him 2-3 weeks advance. So after this we can do that.
