Figured we'd make one thread and just keep updating it instead of making new ones every week

This Saturday 4/28/07
- Meet up time and shop tour: 3:00pm-5:30pm ...

Here are the details for this weekend's meet/tour:
We will be debuting a two hour (one hour each way) 100 mile tour with some of the best twisties I've seen in Illinois. This makes The Compton Ring look like a straight line.
The route actually branches directly off of the Compton ring so there is no extra in route time. Once on the route, we go no more than 5 miles between twisties. There's a variety of fun on just-paved glassy roads including elevation changes, tight, complicated switchbacks and high speed curves (55mph zones!!). This is definitely worth the drive, some of the best driving roads I've ever seen. Some of the roads I would put in my top 5, even over my old trails in California!
This can be a very challenging drive so be sure to read (click the article): The Pace
The plan is to have a forest setting group photo op after a couple rounds of cruising.
There will be plenty of cheap and not so cheap food choices in the area for those of you that eat

If you don't have one already, bring an FRS (e.g. Motorola Talkabout) radio that can do privacy/security channels. You'll have a much better time during the cruise.

Whatever brand you get, make sure it's got the CTCSS/Privacy/Security codes so you can talk with us.... so far the three interoperable brands appear to be Cobra, Midland, and Motorola. (Their privacy/CTCSS codes match).
Cheaper FRS radios only have channels 1-14. FRS radios with the CTCSS/Privacy/Security sub-channels have channels 1-14 with subchannels 1-38 in each main channel, ala 1^1-1^38 - 14^1-14^38.
You can still listen into conversations on equipment that doesn't support subchannels, but you can't speak/broadcast.

Good times last week (driven-in movies and we got to see Transformers ).
We even got to see and hang out with alnielsen for a while
