Sandusky, OH Area: Anyone Recognize this VR RX8?
I was at Cedar Point yesterday and we stopped at the Mickey D's next to the park for a couple cokes. This RX8 was ahead of us in the line. Notice the rear grill work covering the cheesy plastic mesh.
It's made from thin bars of aluminum cut to width. But I didn't get details on how the bars are mounted to the rear bumper. I ran up to his car and asked him how he did it, and he responded that it was like that when he bought it. (From Victory Honda in Sandusky. According to the dealer license plate frame)
I also pointed out to the owner that it's already been lowered and that it had clear corners. He had no idea. So someone loved this car. (Probably a former member here.)
Does anyone know who may have had this and did this person ever detail out how they did the rear grill. I'd like to try it on my sunlight silver.
Thanks!
Brian

I have actually done that to my car before, I took it off after a while though. It's done with fender liner that you can buy at an auto parts store. It's basically a piece of flexible rubber coated with an aluminum looking finish that has 3m adhesive on the back of it. I actually got the idea from somebody off here and there was a diy and everything for it. You can make look-alike rotary accents with the stuff too.

Anyway Red, I'd love to see how yours turned out for reference. I've been tempted to cut out the OE mesh and back it up with a black coated mesh. (Real, not plastic - LOL) But I wanted to wait till I have exhaust worthy of being visible.

I think I have some pictures of it somewhere, I have pictures of basically every mod I have ever done. And these didn't turn out bad at all, they stuck on pretty well. I think the ones this guy has you can get on ebay.

I actually hadn't seen the EBay grills before. This was not it though. (That's good in my opinion.) I was hoping this was a custom project as I'd hate to see everyone with it. Even worse, I hate the thought of telling folks "I got it off EBay." LOL
Here's the EBay grill:
