MO Rotary shops in KCMO area?

Hello! Next month I'm moving from ND down to liberty MO, excited! I'm just wondering, are any rotary shops in the area that can do tuning or rebuilding? Or what would be the closest?

I'm researching and trying to decide if I want to go FI and I'm trying to figure out how far I'm going to need to go in order to get a tune. If it's too far away I'm not even going to bother and will probably enjoy my NA for as long as it lives. Thanks!

Welcome to the area.
No rotary shops that I know of.
There's a place in south KC called London Motorworks that might know some rotary guys.
He was recommended to me once, but I never talked to him.
I've done all my own work so far.

I'll take a look and see what they know, thanks!

I'm hoping to do most of the work myself as well, but I will have to get help with the ECU and tuning which is why I want to get this figured out before I start.

Thanks Charles, really appreciate the help!

I don't know anything about craps sorry lol. I stick to blackjack.

I heard that the rotary expert from a local Mazda dealer has left the dealership . I wonder if he is on this forum and is interested in doing the work on his time. For a proper fee of course.

Or perhaps he just moved to a different dealership. No idea what his name is.

I'm in the area, been on here for almost 5 years and never heard any tech locally on the forum.
Best I can do is post #2, London Motorworks by word of mouth.

What kind of work do you need?

I was thinking of doing a turbo build soon, have been looking into it for a while, but I think I'm going to pass on it now. Planning on keeping the car alive and in good shape for as long as possible and when the engine goes out make a decision at that time.

Might be a good idea.
There are a lot of turbo threads, I'm sure It's fun to have, but I'm not willing to risk the money for it.

There's a shop in Neosho, and if you ever come across a rotary shop locally, please update us.

I know who you are talking about with regard to the guy who used to work at the Mazda shop. I talked to him last week and said he would do the rebuild on mine. But since the. He hasn't returned any of my calls so not sure he will help. If he does I will ask about giving his information out.

@blckninja did you ever hear about the other two places that were given to you? Did either of them work on Rotary engines?

If you are still looking for a mechanic who recently rebuilt my engine and was extremely reasonable with cost. His name is Brent and contact number is 913-575-1354. Highly recommend

Does he do them at home or at a business?

Cardsman,
Do you know if Brent is still around? Bought an RX8 to do an LS swap but been thinking about just having he engine rebuilt or maybe do it myself.

Jesse Prather is in Topeka, KS. Rotary specialist, does LS swaps. In house dyno, does everything but bodywork.

Thanks for the info.
I looked at their web page, it looks like thet specialize in racing engines and I see repair mentioned.
I will add them to the rebuilders thread.

Welcome to Jesse Prather Motorsports

Great guy to I feel bad cause I bug the **** out of him with questions the rx8 car is not easy at all the rebuild a hard decision I think I'm gonna go with ra seals so when I turbo it I dont have to fear a detonation I'd rather replace the seals then the house tho

The only one in MO. I'm aware of is in Neosho.
There's another in Topeka.
If you find one not on the list, please post it and I will add it to the Rebuilders thread.

Jesse Prather Motorsports in Topeka, KS is the best. He is more focused on race related work but does street cars as well. He has a chassis dyno in house and is a great tuner as well as engine builder. Very reasonable shop rate.

Prather in Topeka doesn't rebuild engines but he will install a reman for $1,300 last I knew. I live in Topeka and I took mine to the Rotary Doctor in Neosho. I pick up my car this upcoming Saturday, but he has been very honest and good to work with throughout the entire process. I wanted him to go the rebuild route but when he got into it, only my rear plate was salvageable. I threw an apex seal and tore up everything else in the engine, so he talked me into going the reman route. I was hesitant because of the horror stories I have heard about them in the past but he reassured me of their recent quality. I am excited to get my car in a few days and will report back!
