Moving back home... "Sweet home... Chicago!"
Hey! After being exiled to the "deep south" for the last 5 years, we're starting to pay off the house and move back up to Chicago! I'm originally from Hoffman Estates/Schaumburg area, but lives in La Grange for a year too.
Some questions:
1) Is there a good population of folks up there that get together/hangout regularly?
2) Are there any good places to go driving on the weekends? (that is the one thing I enjoy about living down here, the mountain roads...
3) Where do I join up!? (moving in <12-18mo)

Welcome [almost] back!
In order...
1) Yes. As of now, we have 160+ rotary owners. Over 200 altogether.
2) If you're looking for driving roads, I can only speak for the southern routes. I haven't explored up there too often. Used to live in Palatine for a couple of years, but now am in NW Indiana.
3) For local things, we've relaunched RC3 early this year. Rotary Car Club of Chicago (www.chicagorotary.com). This will have all the info you can handle regarding local meets and whatnot.
Where are you moving back to, or where are you looking?

I live in the Hoffman/Schaumburg area and yeah, it is pretty expensive, but the prices drop the further west you go. Past Randall the prices start to get smaller and the lots get alot bigger. Its funny because when my family moved into the house we have now in Hoffman about 7 years ago we paid about 120k for our house, now its worth more than double that.

Not only do we have RC3 (thanks to Christian), but also JGTCA (.com). They get together every Saturday and cruise somewere in search of some twisty roads. Most of the roads around here are straight because the land is mostly flat. But, you can find small sections that can be fun.
