There's a couple of us still out and about. I see RX-8's all the time. I'd be down for a meet. I haven't met any of the RX-8 owners around here really!

I just ordered a Borla cat-back for mine last Friday. My guess is it'll be here in 2 weeks or so and I'll be installing it the first chance I get. I'm pretty excited!

Rob Sight changed ownership (it's now Steve Oliver) so I'd have to go and see if the new owners would be okay with it. Frankly I'm not even sure if I have the time anymore to get something like that planned anyways considering the lack of turnout that was going to be at the last one. I guess I'm just used to planning Honda events still where we fill an entire parking lot at Shawnee Mission Park. lol

it would be easier to get a big turn out if we can get the mazda 3 club to show up, and find other mazda clubs to invite. if not, just a small meet at dave and busters, or more buffalo wild wings meets.

I, as well as others, posted up on just about every Mazda forum we could find and didn't get jack for a response outside of the RX-7 and RX-8 community. I'm just taking it for what it is, and that there isn't much of a Mazda following around here unless you own a Miata.

I'm down for a smaller meet around Easter time, though.

I'd be up for a meet sometime. As long as I'm not away on business, I'll make it.

Noob - first post

I just joined the Fraternity last month. I'd be interested in getting together with other RX-8 owners to learn as much as I can about this incredible car. Please count me in for a meet anytime...

BTW kcvandal, nice Trogdor the Burninator!!

I could make an attempt to show up at the meeting if its set. My only issue is my work schedule is kinda of weird at times. But yeah, that Mazda dealership is now Steve Oliver, and coincidentally I'm having the 8 taken up there tomorrow for the 15k maintenance.

15k maintenence. Sheesh that thing is a baby! I think on the drive home today from work I'll cross over 54,000 miles.

Is your car lowered? If so I've seen you driving around on 151st a couple of times and I wanted to say you have a very good-looking 8!

I really need to get mine closer to the ground but I already had clearance issues when it snowed and I don't really want to make that worse.

They're a fun car that's for sure. Judging by your avatar I'm going to guess that you picked up a 40AE model? If so, congrats and you have a beautiful car. I saw one in person at the auto show and I loooved the color, wheels, and new seat colors as well.

It's under new ownership but they kept all of the guys there so you'll still see Glen when you walk in and Bruce will still be in the back office. I have no idea what they did with sales management, though. I believe they're the best Mazda service department around and their stats don't lie, either.

They're a hell of a lot better than Tumminia which I recommend avoiding like a plague.

Yup. Thank you. I too absolutely love the colors inside and out. I updated my sig and tried to get it in the original post, but it didn't work. First post jitters...

Glad to hear that Steve Oliver has a great service department. I plan on using them for service exclusively. BTW, I heard the Tumminia is going out of business soon. Not sure about the accuracy of that rumor.

I'm still around too. Now that its warming up, it might be much easier to get together. I'm looking forward to it.

haha thanks man. Yeah, its probably me, I live on 157th and Ridgeview roughly so I am ALWAYS around 151st. And yes, she is a baby, in fact, just celebrated our year anniversary (i make it sound like I'm married to her, oh well, haha)

And believe it or not, my ride is in fact NOT lowered, but I swear it looks lower than most 8's I see. Dunno why that is, but everyone thinks it is, including myself!

And, as you may have noticed, I no longer existed when there was snow. I was cocky and thought I could drive it with stock tires on ice/snow. I was wrong. But now thats its nice out, expect to see me driving around Olathe between 5-7 the next couple days. I just washed and waxed her and its supposed to be upper 60's the next couple days. Hellz yeah!

EDIT: BTW - one of my crowning moments of ever owning a car was when I came on here a tad after I did my spoiler and hood and I read a post from someone saying something to the tune of, "and look for a gray RX-8 riding around with nice mods, damn showoff" - haha, thats meeeee

I just got my baby from Steve Oliver today, and actually they let me wait for it and hang out with em and just talk about the appearance mods I've done and what I wanna do next and everything. Its definitely the same guys from the Rob Sight ownership. They rock. I would never go back to Tumminia, even though they never really did anything wrong, haha.

I live at 152nd and Mur-Len so I'm sure I'll spot you all the time. I have a red '04 GT and the only noticible mods are the JDM clear corners and some window tint so I doubt I'll stick out much. Here in the next couple of weeks it'll be louder, though, since the Borla is on the way. I can't wait!

My car looks like a 4x4 in comparison to yours so I'm definitely jealous and surprised. I'd hate to think I'd have to order a set of lowering springs just to make it look stock like yours.

I have some Avon Tech MS550's mounted on some cheap (and ugly) Motegi wheels during the cold months and my car seems to move around just fine in this weather. I only had trouble once and that was going uphill in the 3-4" of snow we got a few weeks ago. That didn't work out too well.

After work tomorrow I think I'll be washing and waxing my car as well.

I'll make it a point to come out to the next meet. I'm anxious to talk to some long(er) time 8 owners about their experiences.

And, as you may have noticed, I no longer existed when there was snow. I was cocky and thought I could drive it with stock tires on ice/snow. I was wrong.
I tried to navigate the slushy snow about three weeks ago on my way downtown to work. Bad idea. I was being very careful and I started fishtailing at about 45mph on I-35 in traffic. I swear I did nothing sudden - no sudden braking, acceleration, or gear changes! I somehow managed to keep it in my lane and recover, but I think I sharted my drawers! The guy in the Jag behind me was probably thinking "what an a**hole..."

Anyway, I've been stealing my wife's minivan on snowy days. It's usually not a problem if I can get it out of the garage before she wakes up!

Yeah snow/ice is no joke on stock tires. I NEVER had this much trouble in my life. Not really a flaw in the RX-8, just that it aint made for snow and ice. It's made for summertime, haha.

And trust me, you're red RX-8 im sure sticks out just fine. If you threw a new hood on yours you would probably turn as many heads as me, if not more since red is considered the sports car color in general. One of these days we gotta rally up the RX-8ers of Olathe and invade Sonic on a friday night, haha.

I'd like to powdercoat the stock wheels a darker color (then it'll stick out I'd imagine), but the financials just don't allow for it right now especially after dropping $670 on an exhaust system.

I've made a trip or two to the Sonic on 135th and Blackbob during the summer to hang out with some friends and boy that was an experience. Between the ricers and the flat-out idiots I can't say it was a very enjoyable time because I spent most of it worried someone was going to slam into my car while trying to show off! I'm definitely down for invading a Sonic but I'd almost recommend staying away from that one.

We used to have meets at Twisters located at around 135th an Antioch during the middle of the week that would pull a pretty good crowd (a time or two we filled the entire parking lot nearly), but that was just for non-specific car meets. We should do that sometime.

Ryan, I def want to get the Twisters meet going once it gets warmer out. It was a good way to break up the week.

I am also down for a meet up. We just need to decide where and when. I have seen many RX8's around and we seem to mostly drive in the same area. I have a black 8, clears, tinted windows, lowered, with a mazdaspeed dual can exhaust. Currently have the winter wheels on but hope to change to the stocks after a repaint next month.

I wouldn't mind doing something with my stockers as well. You paying "dad" to paint them this time around? Will he do that?

I'll probably start the Twisters thing in April. I'm not really sure I want to do it every single week, though, because even I got burned out after a while of doing that. Maybe a once a month thing?

wow you guys are all near me as well i'm at 129th and mur-len bb clear corners, strakes, front and back accent pieces. have the carputer stuff in the mail now, then next on list is tint, getting it minged, and i want a bb mazda speed spoiler danget those things look sweet

i should also say that when i got my car clamidia put on the kumho ECSTA on my car and those things grip and go (cant slide around at all) on dry roads and in the rain they are fine but in the snow they are POOOOOP. bad as in with even a dusting these things start to slip and slide. not the butt mind you but the front tires loose traction. example: not 2 long ago it started snowing pretty hard and had been doing so for about an hour and i was driving home roads were covered in a thin coat, i slowed down to make a right and turn at antioc and 127th going about 5 miles an hour and the car decided it wanted to keep going straight. The retarded thing was that a lady turned left even though i was turning right (i had the green and the right of way) and almost freeking hit me. on a side note i don't know about you guys but i don't turn left when there are people even near the road i will be turning on.
