My first post. I have one, Titanium. About every option exept leather. I love it. I really havent seen that many around but i see one like mine, same color but pretty stock w/ no options. Hes always on the back roads by the family arena. Plate says "RX-8". He got it before me.
Sorry i put this as a new thread.

Where is a good place to get clear markers at, that would make it look so much better.( it would be a good gift idea for someone in my family) My front plate is also off. It just dosent look good at all with it on. I had to add leaving the plate off into my budget. Just after i got the car, less than 30 days, damn St. Peters cops gave me a ticket. Talk about an *** hole. But its still staying off.

Damn! I've been driving for about 3 months now wo/ the front plate, seen many of St. Peters and O'Fallon cop, even parked once at the O'Fallon police station/city hall, and have not gotten a ticket.

First off it didnt help me that i was speeding a little, 43 in a 25. I was on the way to pay my sales tax, im guessing it was the end of the month so the guy had to make quota. He gave me two tickets by the way. It might have also been that i am still yourg (20) and had a nice car, that in it self can make some people mad. He was probrably just jelous he couldnt afford one.

Or, it could have actually been because you were speeding and didn't have a plate.

I know. I really need to work on that. Its just too dare easy to do in the 8, you really feel like your going alot slower that you really are because its so smoth.

Yes, it's very smooth. I bought a radar detector to help out. I usually cruise at 80 whenever possible, in both my old minivan and my new 8. But with the 8, I'm more inclined when following a slow car that's pretty much pacing the middle lane to punch it-move to the right hand lane-fly by 4-6 cars in the middle lane before re-entering the left lane. Punching it at 70 in fourth gear to move around the other cars you approach the triple digits real quickly. These are the tickets I worry about. 80 in a 60 isn't nearly as bad as a 105-110 in a 60. Of course I'm only at those speeds for a second or two, I immediately coast down to 80.

That RX-8 plate person would be me. I was wondering if you were on this forum.
Where do you live out here in St. Charles? Must be close to me since we get next to each other once in a while in the evenings after work on Arena Parkway. I assume you have seen me pull into my street a couple of times when you were in front of or behind me.......usually in front of me you damn maniac!! :D
I got my clear side markers from Rotary Extreme. Just put them on over the weekend, and they look SO much better than the stock orange ones. I also have no front plate and do not plan to put it on. I'll wait to get ticketed a couple of times. I agree that it looks like **** with that thing on there. Totally ruins the whole "mean" look of the front end. I have the rotary accent package and the fender strakes too by the way, so my car is not totally without options.

I didnt mean it like that. Is their any cheaper places to get those clear corners, $70 is alot for those. I am hopeing to get some stuff for my car for christmas.
By the way, im not a maniac:p everyone else just drives to slow. By the end of a long work day their is nothing worse than sitting in traffic on your way home. Expecially when your sitting in an 8.

No kidding......on that Arena Parkway stretch is about the first time in a 45 minute drive home that I am not right on somebody else's slow *** doing 30 mph.
It's fun to finally get to speed a little right before I get home. It seems to dilute the been-stuck-in-slow-traffic-for-too-long frustration when your behind the wheel of a fun car.
race you soon......
by the way.......I think that $70 is about the going rate for those side markers even if you find them somewhere else. It is a little expensive for a couple of friggin' lenses.

Well, it wasn't a matter of "shame on you for speeding". I can't rightly say that.
It's just that we all know the rules. If we want to dance, we must be prepared to pay the piper.

Although today I did see a silver on the way home, and didn't have time to wave- I was shocked.
That happened to me once. I was southbound on K going through the light at N, and once I went through the intersection, I think I saw an 8 northbound. It was like WTF, was that an 8. I just had a split second glance and wasn't sure. I've seen so few, it's still a shock to see another. My last sighting was on 70 EB between mid-rivers and cave springs this last Tuesday about 9:30 am. Exchanged waves and thumbs up.
On another note, it looks like prices are dropping. Bommarito Mazda St. Peters latest ad in todays Post listed 8s starting at 24,995. That's a little down from their earlier ads of 25,700.
Lastly, in last Sundays Post, the fear factor 8 winner listed his car for sale for 29something with an msrp of 31something. My guess is he owes 7-10 grand in income taxes and is selling for that reason. I know the first fear factor 8 winner is a member. Is the second winner, the gut from St. Peters, a member here?
