I'd be interested in coming down from Cleveland. I've never been to Mid-Ohio and wonder if someone could post a brief primer on what to expect, what to bring (e.g. - coolers or are the concessions reasonable), best places to watch the race from (grandstands or bring lawn chairs), etc.? Anything to help the newb is much appreciated!

Machiavelli,
As you said, it can be done either way. One of my favorite places is the grandstand at the end of the backstretch. This gives a good view of the cars coming down the backstrectch, braking hard and going through the esses. One of the best places to pass on the track.
Also, you can go to the spectator mound across from this grandstand and chill out in a lawn chair or the grass.
Concessions are at the usual ripoff prices.
In any case, it's a nice place to spend a day - very relaxed.
Let's see if we can get a final roll call. Who's in? What do you want to do - grandstand or grass? If you want to stay in the grass, I have a 10 x 10 canopy and a couple of folding chairs and a good sized cooler I could bring.
The GT race starts at 11:00. I suggest we get there about 9:30 or so. That way we can have time to wander the paddock before the race. There is another race after the GT race that starts at 2:45 for anybody interested.
For those coming from Columbus and points south, lets meet at the McDonald's at Polaris at 8:15. See map http://www.mcohio.net/index.cfm/irhp...aurantID/22135
I'll pm my cell to anybody coming so we can be sure to meet up - just let me know.
Anybody have any thoughts or other ideas? Talk it up amongst your friends - the more the merrier!

The grandstand sounds like a nice view, but man...a canopy, lounge chairs, and a big cooler on the grass sound like a good time. I'll be fine with either, but sounds like we could save some $$ with a cooler and bringing our own drinks/snacks. We just picked up one of those "Wrap the Rail" lawn games...I'll bring that along in case we take seats in the grass.
My younger brother and myself will be there. Come on down Machiavelli! Huhwha, PM'ing you with my cell number now.

Thanks for the info, Huhwha! I think I will head down and drag one of my brats with me. Since I'll be coming from up north I'll probably just meet up with everyone there. I'll pm my cell as well.

Jeff - I'm in. The grandstand sounds like the best viewing place, but it may be hard to get everyone's seat together. The lawn is the exact opposite, with shading and coolers as a bonus. I'm fine with either.
McDonald's a good meeting place to caravan

I agree, i this case the lawn is probably best. I actually read the rules: No tents, canopies or dining flies may be erected on amphitheater viewing mounds. So, I will not bring my canopy.
If I get a chance, I will see if I can find an umbrella to tie to my chair. From my experience, that sun will roast you in short order! I'll bring along an extra chair for anybody that may need it. I'll also have my big cooler.

My tickets are at will call.
Ra, let your wife know that my wife is headed up also.
So, 830a @ the McD's on Polaris and I-71?
Are we all taking up our 8's or should be pile into my Expedition? I have room for 7 people and I think we are at 6 right now.
Let me know.

I think everybody was planning on a caravan, plus seeing what you have done to your car!
8:30 sounds good - I'll try to get there a little early. I think I have exchanged cells with most everybody. If anybody needs mine, drop me a pm.

Mine arrived Fedex in 2 days as well. However, my wife's never arrived. I'm printing out her confirmation. Hopefully it'll get us through. The website did mention they had eCommerce issues. See you guys tomorrow morning!

My pictures came out lousy...I think I need to take a photography class and buy a digital SLR.
I'm kicking myself now...I was enjoying the race so much that I forgot to take pictures. That was a LOT of fun guys...let's hope they come back next year. I also found a shot of my Miata, threw that in here so's you guys can see it. Might drive it to the next meet and find a twisty road on the way home.
