Northern NM Drive

Finally got to take a "real" drive in the Shinka this weekend. Went up to Raton for the annual Santa Fe Trail Balloon Rallye. Went thru Chimayo, Truchas, Penasco, Mora and up to Angel Fire, Eagle Nest to Cimmaron and then finally Raton. A great drive and it really proved what I already knew... this car handles like a true CHAMP!! Amazingly, traffic was light and managed to do the 74 mile run from Eagle Nest to Raton in one hour!!! Could be a new state record!!

:D

Came back Sunday on the "boring" I-25..got just below Santa Fe and there was a Beamer and Crossfire that I used for "lead rabbits" and we let 'em roll..at times doing 100....no Occifer, it wasN'T me!!!

Happy Fourth of July, everyone!! Cheers!

You spent time in the "triple-digit-zone"? I'm shocked. Having uh... ventured there once or twice myself, doncha love how stable this car is? I will neither confirm nor deny that I may have been in the TDZ myself this past weekend. :D The only problem is, I let my wife hold onto the GPS; I forgot to "advise" that I wanted to "verify" the accuracy of the speedo. Which BTW, I've found is a pretty steady +3MPH fast compared to the GPS, (with the P-Zero Nero tyres). With the stock Potenzas, the difference was exactly +2MPH. This was across the entire speed range above 10 MPH.

I work at Intel (in Rio Rancho) and have driven my 8 down from Denver a few times. I had to stop by Los Alamos Labs, and the back roads through Bandalier allow some high speed driving--until you get to the Cuba intersection! I was stopped by Indian Tribal Patrol, but they let me off. NM is a fun place to let the RX run!

Going over to Phoenix in the morning. Taking the RX-8 route thru Springer, Show-Low and then Payson. Dang, hope this ain't being "monitored"!! hee-hee!!
