Electrical Problem??

Hey guys.

I have been having an intermittent electrical problem. While I am driving sometimes the entire electrical system will temporarily shut off for a brief moment then come back on.

This includes the drivetrain/safety systems as well. I had my altenator tested and it is putting out 85.5 amps, which is supposedley within mazda's acceptable range. My battery is also good. I believe it might be a grounding problem, but i'm not sure where to start.

Any help on this would be much apprectiated.

This is definitely the wrong section to put this in but.... I had the same exact problem and it went on for months until I finally realized the power connection to my fuse block was loose and had room to wiggle around. I tightened that down and haven't had the problem again. Check the top connections on your fuse box under the hood.

What does that Paul know about anything?

I recall some fuse box connector problems existing at one time. I'll try to research it some more and get back to you.

Paul.

I just noticed that's what WV is saying also, so I think we're on the right track.

Paul.

Okay. I fixed this last month, just forgot to post here. I installed an Optima yellow top a few months back and was using some post "caps" to make the stock connections fit. Those caps are not very durable and had begun to get mangled in addition to being corroded.

I went to the local parts store and purchase some marine terminals to go with my marine battery and, wa-la, good as new.
