What's happened to English in the last few years??

I thought they taught it in school, youngster. I'm 56, going on 18. I'm just amazed at how many kids (under 25) have $31k cars and can't spell worth ****. Makes me wonder what the rest of their/there education was like.

Sorry. It's supposed to be me rolling on the floor laughing because I completely agree with every word you said. I thought the same thing when I first visited the board. :D

Roger that. I can only stand so much, and then have to log out to recover. It's like being in Startrek and landing on Ricer Alpha (or some such).

Good point, wrong place for it! Anyone with an engineering degree has to be pretty educated to pass those courses!

Ricer Alpha??
Not to offend anyone here... I know we're all of different ages, backgrounds, and at different stages in our lives, but sometimes this place has quite a bit of its share of unintentional comic relief...
I'm 24 and I am in the marines. I bought mine with cash, so I guess not all twenty somethings with an rx-8 are engineers. Then again I'm trying to get my degree in bio-engineering, but I'm not one yet :p
I didn't get the rx-8, but I am only 20 and I bought my self an Lancer Evo 8. I just graduated my self from R.N and work in a state hospital. I know doctors who went to school for 14 yrs and still they can't spell **** . He is an engineer and his 23 soooOO...bunch of old people who are haters.
Dick Carlson Your a, well what your first name implies!!!!

wow.. amazing..
Lets see here, as one of those kids who can't speel worth **** I would have to say that the rest of my education was pretty good, Thank You..
Five years of college yielded 2 degrees, BS Mech. Eng. and Masters in Systems Engineering. Because of these degrees I could afford this 32K car. I am pretty sure that checking that I am using the subjunctive tense of a verb was a little less important in getting my job.
Quit making inane posts about simple spelling errors or grammar usage. Everyone makes mistakes. Plus its not their fault that they would rather spend time doing analysis and calculations so you could enjoy a luxury such as a RX-8. Besides, nobody likes a GrammarNazi..

I don't think anyone is a hater here... Being an engineer is no special accomplishment. It doesn't mean you're great with the English, nor does it mean you can spell properly. If 31 is old then so be it.

Gracias. I hate the spelling, not the speller. Unfortunately, on an internet board, your first impression is from the written word, and when someone writes as though he'd just landed on this planet, any content is taken with reservation. But maybe I'm mistaken and most of the people on here are 50-something over-the-road truckers who dropped out of high school.

The most inane thing about this thread is the original question. Why would anyone actually care who the youngest person that bought the car with their own money is... <hides behind Dick Carlson to shield the flames>
