Who has already put a deposit down?
Let's find out who put down the first deposit in this forum. Tell us when you did it and how much did you had to deposit to get on “the list”.
I put my $500.00 deposit down on April 8th, 2002. Has anyone put a deposit down before mine?

I was going to, but I figure I'll wait until at least a car magazine gets their hands on it (particuarly the UK ones.. the US ones just suck ***).
I have very high hopes for this car, but I'll be patient and wait. I am going to buy the car in May of 03, so I have a ways to go yet

i do!!! i do!!!
i put a $500 deposit on 8-19-02 at irvine mazda!!! the guy said i was the first one, which i found strange considering that plp on this forum said their dealers had already used up all their deposits.
hercules - if u put a deposit and decide u dont want the car, u can get ur money back. so u have nothing to lose by puting down a deposit
by the time the magazines test drive it, it'll be all sold out!!!:D

Hercules, I’m sure where you are located but if you are in Canada where will none to had by then.
My dealer expects to receive a total of three cars for the entire first year, they also had deposits for all three in April.
Good luck should you wait.

Go ahead and see if you can have the car delivered in the May-June timeframe.
I was told that they were expecting the cars to begin delivery in February; I told them that I didn’t want mine until April and the dealership went for it.

Okay, I'll go put a deposit down
I hope $100 is enough, I don't have enough to just throw at the car right now (which is why I have to wait till May-July) to get the car

Good move, at worst you don’t get the car and you get your deposit back.

100 bucks enough though?
I wish I *had* $500 to dish out for the car, but right now I don't. But I want to put my deposit down

I really don’t know if $100.00 is enough, I asked them how much they wanted and they said $500.00.

$500 is the usual figure they mention.. but I think that can be haggled down, like any other figure in the car industry.
So for the Canadians out there, any idea on the numbers we'll be getting?

i gave my dealer a check for $500 as good faith dep. to get on the list for one at msrp. they said they would not even deposit the check until the car was oficially launched and that i could decide then if i really want one.totally refundable. about 3 weeks went by when i noticed on my bank statement that htey had deposited the check.
so i went to the dealer and complained to the manager. got my money back and i'm stil 2nd on the list! :D

I put a $1K deposit in March or April '02 (not sure, will verify), but received it back in the mail a couple of weeks later. Attached note said they didn't need the deposit, but I was still 1st on the list (FWB, FL). I haven't spoken to them in a while, so I'm thinkin after the holiday I need to stop in for a visit.
