What other cars are you considering?

Other than the RX8 - what other cars are you considering to purchase??

For myself - my lease on my 3.2 TL doesn't end till the beginning of 2006. The list of possible cars I'm considering are the s2000, the RX8, RX7 (if it actually comes out) and the M3 (depends on how my Nortel stocks do in the next 3 years).

At the top of my list I have the Rx8 and s2000.

The only other car I'm seriously considering is the 350Z.

The RX-7 is a possibility, but I doubt I could wait that long. If I do decide to hold off until then, I'd probably have to take a close look at the Supra too.

True, but some spy photos have been better than others. I've seen some truly hideous ones, but some nice ones too. On the other hand, if they follow the current trend of the more recent Toyotas, then I'll have to look elsewhere...

That's strange, you like the echo, but don't like the camry/corolla, etc? They all look the same to me! :o

I'll probably get the 325 or 330 in manual if I dont' get the RX-8, depending on money.

The RX-8 is the best car for the money, because I need a nice fit and finish which the 350Z doesn't offer, RWD which Audi doesn't offer, an emphasis on handling over power which the 350Z doesn't offer, and a solid roof which the Miata, S2000, and MR2 don't offer.

I hate convertibles :D

-Mitsubishi Evo 7 or 8 or whatever they plan on calling it when it comes over here.
-Infiniti G35 6-speed (if it really is in the works)
-Miata + commuter vehicle (i.e. Miata + Sentra or something)

Of course, if my contract doesn't get renewed the list shifts a little:
-RSX
-Celica
-GTi
-Sentra SE-R
-Protege ES GT

I also like the IS300, now that it's available in MT. The one thing I don't like is the sedan driving position. Give me a low slung seat and a high center console any day. That's part of the appeal of the RX-8 for me.

At this point the RX-8 is more of my #1 "wish list" car that might be somewhat attainable in a few years. No plans to purchase a car right away.

Ehhhhh....

IS300 didn't do it for me, really teeny inside. Quick little car though, but personally I didn't like the gauges at ALL. The shifter isn't great either, but hell.... you can't have it all.

Unless you get the RX-8 :D

Wow.. that's EXACTLY my thoughts!

I also think the 350Z is ugly.

If I stay in the south, and grow impatient, I'll get a Vette.
If I go north, it may be a BMW instead.

I am on a waiting list for the Lotus Elise. Just getting a little tired of the date being pushed back.

350Z Enth, RSX-R (if it ever somes out--before the RX8, ha!)

Evo8 and WRX STi are just too cheap looking on the inside to consider. Celica engine bites. IS300 doens't look too great and has very little room next to the 3er. But already have a 325i, it's auto; so I don't want another 325i. G35C might be too pricey. Nothing else catches my attention.

There aren't any Lotus dealers in Jersey, are there?

How much does the Elise run?

Oneof my favorite versions, the Sport Elise.

Click the image to open in full size.

Latest bits of info. Probably a Toyota 195hp drivetrain. 1720 pounds. A/C and CD player. Spaceframe construction. Street legal.

$37-39k.

1500 per year imported.

Starting in 2004.

Dealers all over, where Lotus cars are sold.

I am also looking at the 350Z, the 03 Accord V6 EX Coupe, and the Mazdaspeed Protege. Those are really about the only cars in my range that I am considering. Each one of those has something or a few things they do really well, but it looks like the RX-8 will be able to do everything that the other cars can do well, all in one car, and better in most cases. Plus the fit and finish should be 100 times better than that of the 350Z.

I'll probably wait to see what the MazdaSpeed RX-8 will be. I may even wait to see if the next RX-7 will come out. If I knew the RX-7 was coming out for sure I would wait for it. I'm a die hard RX-7 fan. (I love my Black R1 )

I'm in the same boat ... I've got an 12 year old old car that's starting to cost more than it's worth

I like the Mazda 6 hatchback version (I'd really like the MPS concept to become reality if the RX-8 isn't out in time)

I need a back seat (and realy would perfer some kind of fastback hatchback) but next on my list might be the G35 Coupe and Accord V6 EX Coupe (I still need to see these in person to form a real opinion) or if money becomes tighter, an RSX or celica ...
