I'll have to wait to share my ideas im public until I actually get some vanity plates. Nothing worse than finding out someone took your idea and used it before you...

I just ordered my personalized Ontario license plate for my preordered RX-8, total cost $213.60 ouch!

I paid $212.60 for the plate plus a $1.00 convenience fee for ordering the plate through a kiosk. I highly recommend ordering your plate through a kiosk if available in your area, originally I went to the licensing office but there must have been about 40 people in line renewing their plates and/or drivers’ license. The other advantage is that you can instantly find out if your requested plate is already issued. Fortunately the $213.60 is in Canadian dollars.

I tried the following plates but without success because they were already issued:

RX8
ZOOMZOOM
2 THE 9S

The following are the ones that I did not try:

RX EIGHT
OBSESSED
YELLOW 8 (that’s the colour that I will probably order)
MAZDARX8
9000 RPM
9K RPM
9K SHIFT
RENESIS
ROTORY 8
REDLINEN

I ended up getting "8TH SIN". I was a little surprised that this one was still available because it is only 6 characters; Ontario only went to 8 characters earlier this year.

Now I just have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for the plate to arrive and only God knows how many more months for my RX-8. :D

Mine(which I'm ordering soon) has absolutly NOTHING to do with RX-8's...and nobody can take it(HA!) N1XRR...Amatuer radio call sign, you have to show proof of license in order to get the plate.

i've been checking out this forum for awhile now and i gotta tell you guys it is great i finally decided to jump in. how's this for plates "zoom44" or "trx8m". how about a flame job on the hood of the rx8, with the flame (maybe in blue?) extending up over the roof? maybe someone with photoshop could try one so we can see how it looks. thanks for having such a great forum!

p.s. 2nd on the list at my local dealer! they are clueless, no real info at all!

pps- i believe at the 2007 tokyo motor show Mazda will unveil a new rotory with 1.6 litres of displacement and will call it the 16x

Question where does it go

i was just watching some of the rx8 video and wondered... where am i going to put my front license plate. there doen't appear to be a good place that won't block air going into the engine compartment. another thing has anybody seen this car with the hood up? might the whole bonnet lift up and forward?

It appears there just going to slap one on right in the middle of the front but thats how it has to be... i saw a pic awhile back it was a drawing it had the hood opening the rear of the hood but i dont know if that design was used.

but if you look at the picture of the front of the car it apears that the head lights would be in the way if the hood opened i nthat fashoin, the geometry just seems wroung, but who knows thats just my observation. it still could open fro mtheb ack of the hood if the front area has some hindges that allow it to swing upward.

it seems to me that the hood should be hinged in the front. with the engine siiting behind the front wheels getting in there to work with a "traditional" hood would be a hell of a stretch especially if you had to get at the back of the engine. i see your point though about the headlights.

Zoom44, the rotary engine AVI file from the program on the history channel shows them opening the engine bay of the RX-Evolve....

Pretty much the whole front tilts forward, it's really neat actually... much like a Triumph Spitfire or GT6.

If anyone wants to try a photoshop job on the front to show a place where you could put a licence plate I'd be facinated..... I can't see that it's possible, which is a HUGE shame.
