Valentine-1
anyone here familiar with the valentine-1 detector, and if so what do you think, is it one of the best out there?

I have one, it is the best out there. My top arrow light went, I have to send it in to get fixed...someday

Radar detectors are very legal in MA. I've got a V1 in my 8. If you want more information, start your search at www.mass.gov.

Did a lot of research and reached the conclusion th V1 is the best. For one thing, Mike Valentine will upgrade your unit for life, you don't have to keep spending $300+ every few years for a new box. Mine is on the UPS truck for delivery today.



FYI: there is a DIY for RX8 install on the forum...

I think the high-end Escorts are upgradeable, too. It'd be nice to see one with a USB port so I can just d/l the new firmware to it...

Only state in the union where they are currently illegal is Virginia. The industry successfully lobbied CT to repeal their ban about 10 years ago.

They are illegal in ALL of Canada however.

The V1 is upgradeable but it is not free. I just spent $69 (including S&H) to have mine updated to include 2 band POP. It also has a new feature that allows it to cancel the alerts if it is 100% sure that it is a false alarm. Supposedly, "J" is displayed on the screen when the alert is canceled but I haven't personally seen this in action.
