Just wondering if anyone here has taken their automotive course? Im thinking of signing up but just want to hear what other people have to say. The good and bad of it... I know its fairly expensive compared to a regular community college but you get way more experience and background. So just post what you got to say.
Thanks

Real colleges will laugh when you try to transfer credits from schools like UTI. Just some food for thought if you ever plan on transferring.
I personally don't see why i would need to transfer credits. I mean the field i want to do is automotive, and with UTI and even my college here you get a certificate. Then after that you go out into the field. Now i can see if you want to get a BS or w.e in something else. But then you should go to a technical school ? Either way i will ask when i talk to them again.
Thanks

I'm currently attending UTI and I'm over halfway through the program now. It's a great school to help you get started and please do not think you will walk out knowing EVERYTHING. Because you will not, and you will be disappointed if you rest on that conclusion.
This school is AWESOME, but you need to apply yourself, and soak up all of the information. Bottom line, you take what you want from the school. If you apply yourself and show up on time, everyday, you will have an awesome experience. If you're late all the time, and you sleep in class...you will be spending 30,000+ to sleep.
If you do plan on attending one of the UTI Campuses, be prepared to move...far. Avondale, AZ is the campus you need to attend if you want a piece of paper after you graduate. The Avondale campus is the only one that gives your Associates degree.
Another plus to our campus is that we have the BEST hot rod program. One of the teachers, Bill Spiekerman (google him), is pretty much a badass. He teached the power and performance class. You get to build a small block one phase, and then throw aftermarket parts the phase after.
The downsides are that some of the teachers suck. You have to be there 5 days a week for 6 hours a day. It's expensive, and there are kids fresh out of high school there. Oh and there's nothing but dudes, and the girls are lesbians, bull dykes, or complete and utter *****.
I can keep on going but I need to get to sleep, because I have class in the morning
Manufacturers w/ UTI: Audi, BMW, Volvo, Ford, International, Cummins, Freightliner, Porsche, Mercedes, MINI, and more

I don't know about UTI (there's a location 15 min from my house). But, I went to a technical school and I don't know that it's held me back in my career. I do know that my local community college does have automotive classes that are can be targeted to certain brands of automobile brands and you are practically guaranteed to get a job servicing that brand upon graduation.

I have read on RX7Club that there were some rotorheads going to the Glendale Hights campus. We are having a meet, on Saturday, at the Dave & Busters about a mile from there. There are apartments within walking distance to the campus (I hear). Most on 7Club didn't bring their cars with them.
