Holy hell, if I passed somone playin drums like that on the street I'd give em like 10 bucks! Why isn't he in a freakin band??
Because his band-mates would kill him for:
1) Can't hold a tempo
2) Too loud
3) Can't just play one groove - keeps switching up
I've played with more than my share of drummers like that.
The really good ones can do what that guy was doing with one hand while drinking from a cup with the other, but they choose not to because it is in bad taste.
B.S.....I own a recording studio and I record drummers all the time. If anyone could bust $#!T like that id give them their session for free. That guy has MAD SKILLZ.
In any case....every one of those presentations featured people far more talented than I. Regardless of any practical applications, the entertainment value alone commands respect and admiration.
Sure...I possess certain flatulating talents, but don't see that as ever becoming sidewalk entertainment...at least not in the confinement of a mall or near open flames.
not that impressive, i go to school at north texas where drummers like that are a dime a dozen. have some really impressive players here. i got a friend up at julliard too who's a percussion prodigy.
He's mmmm...pretty fast, but have you busted out the Metallica lately. Old school, not new. Lars can shake a stick with anybody.
Being that I was in a band it is easy to find guys as fast as him, but can he read or at least feel the music to keep in tempo and in rythm with the other bandmembers? I think not, at least from what I saw in that vid.
not only was he fast.. but he made just about every sound that you can make on a drum set using those buckets and the street. The kid made the bass drum tone by picking up the bucket with his foot. That was outrageous!
