I just got HL2 (the extra spiffy special edition) for an early Christmas as my mother was feeling sorry for me since my wife abandoned me a week ago. I can't wait to get my machine back up and running and dive into it, does the new CS have any first person stuff, or is it still strictly multiplayer?
CS is multiplayer only. HL2, naturally, is single player. They have multiplayer for it now too.
So, how many people think they're "good" at CS?
ok cool, I thought since there was all this talk about CS and Team Fortress 2 having bots and missions etc. that this would be the case but apparently not. I was pretty good a long time ago, now I probably suck :D
Oh, I think they have bots now. I thought you meant something like missions or something. But, yeah. If you want to play by yourself, you can set up a server full of bots to play against.

Cool, I'll like playing with or w/o them, it's fun playing with them as some types let you adjust difficulty etc. or you can set up teams where it's like you against a whole slew of "people". Fun and sometimes frustrating way to improve strafing and aiming skills etc. Playing online was fun at first, then the cheats happened and plus some floks out there don't like to lose so I'd get booted all the time etc.. from whiny crybabies. So looking forward to playing again, both HL2 and CS
I used to play against cheaters. It's good practice. I'd only get booted if me or my friends were being verbally abusive. If they're booting you because they're losing, you're playing on servers that are too easy. I signed onto some random server the other day to test some settings, I killed 5 people on my first round in with body armor and a USP. I shot 3 to death and knifed the last two. Right after that, I left. This is the type of server that'll accuse you of hacking. They were complete n00bs. There's no sense of accomplishment when you play against people who only just bought all their weapons by the time you've gotten to their spawn. :p

Only if you have the, umm.. "special release" version right? Well, if somebody here has or know a server that has bots, let me know. This is because these are the only servers my copy of HL2/CS:S can play on, you know what I mean? :D
I think Steam's been decent at preventing hacking, I've only come across one hacker so far. He had speed hacks, quite obvious. We reported him, got his Steam account deleted and he lost any ability to play any games he had under Steam.

I was on 56k so getting there just in time for them to buy weapons etc. was not an option. (lol) I think they were getting pissed at losing, I played all different kinds of skill level, some servers had uber-ping Gods running around tagging everyone, some were actually fun and somewhat fair, then you had the ones where "john doe" just got his broadband and is setting up a server etc. thinking he would be all whatever with the lowest ping etc. Skill kills speed every time, same thing happened in Team Fortress. I would use the "spy" and grab the flag all the dang time, or I would be the engineer and guard it, people would get pissed and poof..game over. It's all good though, for every lame server, there were at least a dozen or so fun ones
I dunno, I remember people had some servers up running bots. The SDK is out, so if there are no legitimate bot versions, there will be soon.
There's at least 2-3 programmers playing with stuff, the guy from "Realbot" already had one sorta' working, not to mention the creator of "Podbot" had some stuff he was tinkering with. There's also a guy who had come up with a bot for "Action Half Life" so it will only be a matter of time before any of these guys come up with something. It would be awesome to have some "Unreal" like bots, the Ai on those rocks!
