I believe we've got 2 people talking about 2 different cars here. I've seen the GT in person too. Amazing! Looked like it could take off and fly... almost like a futuristic car.

"Understeer is hitting the wall with the front of the car, Oversteer is hitting the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you push wall."
Reminds me of that time i saw the Enzo. It was beautiful, in fact it was so beautiful, i screamed like a little girl on christmas day with her brand new easy bake oven :P
What did the "40" refer to in naming the Ford GT40?
I saw this somewhere once, it's referring to the height of the car. Its like 1 meter tall which is about 40 inches or something like that. I don't remember where I saw it, now it's gonna bug me :p

How long will it take you to wake up?
Before you go will you wake me?
When I saw it (Ford GT) at the LA Autoshow I wasn't that impressed. C'mon, $150,000 & you can't even put chrome tailpipes on it, or decent seats ?
The other day my friend & I were in Hollywood, and we see a Ferrari Enzo, & TWO Porsche Carrera GT's parked in front of a club. It was literally stopping traffic, people were getting out & taking pictures. Crazy

Since I work for Ford, on of the senior managers got a GT for a day back before they came out, everyone in the building got to come out in groups and sit in it :D
Also if you wanted to buy one, A GT at Jerome Duncan in Sterling Heights, MI went for almost 500k.
And yes, Aoshi is right. The GT40 got its name from its height, which was 40 inches.
Bingo. That's One Yard plus change. I noticed that the latest incarnation is spec'd a little over 44 inches tall. Still amazes me. Just yesterday a coworker was commenting on how tough it was for him to get out of my 8 because it sat so much lower than his pickup. There are plenty of vehicles that you could drive that GT40 straight UNDER, Stallone style (cool scene from 'Driven').
Yeah, that's why they took off the 40 from the name for the new one. I kinda like the old one better, but for tall people (Jeremy Clarkson) the new one is awesome since you can actually fit in it without chopping the top of your head off.
Actually they removed the "40" because someone else owns the name "GT40" and wanted an obsence amount of money, so Ford changed the name to GT. I have seen several at the Barrett-Jackson auction and words can not describe the beauty of this car.
Does anyone know if they stopped the recall of them?
Some guy in Michigan I believe, Ford tried to negotiate but he just wanted lots of money. I didn't know about the height thing. I just know is is very low and I own a Miata for height comparison.
I just watched a Car Crazy episode on Speed last night and the GT was the car being talked about. The Senior VP in charge was talking about how painful it was to crash test these cars. Can you image watching a GT go head first into a wall?

Interesting. I'll do some searching later.
