Well, it's certainly only you who can make this decision, and it really shouldn't matter what others say - but if I were you, I'd definitely go for the blue over the yellow.
The first time I saw it in yellow I was like wow, that's awesome. In the magazine of course.
When I finally saw the yellow in person, I don't care for it. It too light a yellow for my taste.
Plus it doesn't fit my persona. I think yellow is fun, just like a party is fun, but after awhile it's not really what you truly wanted.
But if your all about fun and parties, then go for it.

Now that you have a consensus, let me mess with your mind. I would almost never go for yellow, but they got it right on the 8. In fact, all yellow Mazda's look good. Don't know how they did it cuz it really sux on just about every other car. But damn, that blue is good too! Good luck!

Being the owner of a YELLOW rx8 i can tell you its a far more attractive colour than the blue , its a lot safer especially at night it smiles , it has a far greater road presence , my friend has a blue car but he know wishes he had choosen yellow .
If you live in a sunny fun type place yellow rocks.
Black Titanium SILVER and the other colours all look great in the show rooms but i feel they loose out on the road , look at the car on the road being driven and then decide .
I've got a blue, and I am completely knocked out by the color. And so is everyone else I meet.
I saw a yellow at the dealer and was surprised by how disappointed I was, since I had thought it looked OK in pictures. It's too yellow a yellow. I thought it would have more of a gold tone to it. It's almost flourescent highlighter yellow.
Look man, go with the color YOU like. It's your car, make up your own mind. If you're personally undecided, go w/ Blue and make your wife happy. If you really like yellow, then keep it, and tell your wife you really like your yellow car.
BTW, yellow would never even be a consideration for my own car, but I can see where you would like it. It's a cool yellow.

Well, I've seen the yellow but not the blue personally.
The yellow is alright. It's a wee little too mellow and there's no metallic or mica to it, so it's pretty much a plain two-dimensioal coat of paint.
The blue is metallic, so it's got to have some sparkle and depth to it. I forget who the girl in NYC is, but she said she started actually to cry with joy when she first saw her blue RX-8. Now, that's an emotional reaction!
Do da blue. Your wife will love you all the more too. 1 BIG +!
Of course, you can get the yellow for a month, then get Mazda to take it back, then buy the blue.:p Nah, too risky a venture. (Was yesterday the last day to buy for that?)
edit: Checked the thread & yep, yesterday was the last day. Too bad...
I had to make the same decision - my dealer ordered both a yellow and a blue for me because I could not decide from photographs.
I opted for the blue.
In my personal opinion, Lightning Yellow is not as nice as the Vivid Yellow of my wife's '02 Miata. It looks great in the bright sunshine, but under overcast conditions it takes on a greyish, almost dirty, hue. Winning Blue, on the other hand, looks great in any light.
Try to see them under different lighting conditions if possible, but it all comes down to what YOU prefer.

i have a yellow one. i saw a bunch of blue ones at that first socal tustin meet. the yellow is much lighter than your typical yellow which is why i love it...sorta like a canary yellow i can't stand that cheddar-yellow that some cars have like the vette and toyota.
so, take it from a yellow owner, here are the downsides:
a) your paint will chip from rocks etc, and it REALLY stands out. i have 2 lil chips now, one on the hood and one on the right rear quarter both about 1mm wide.
b) the seams of the car REALLY stand out, from some angles, and so the rear doors may look a lil "pronounced"
c) attention. lots of it. good or bad, depending on who it is and whether or not you like being looked at. people will notice you out of the corner of their eye...maybe with blue, not so much unless you have some spectacular shine on it. (this includes highway patrol mind you)

Depends on how long you're going to keep it. If I keep my 8 for as long as I have kept my 7 (17 years), I'll be 57 years old. Yellow just wouldn't work for me at that age (so I got Titanium). Between your 2 choices, I'd pick blue.

My wife helped me decide on blue, and everyone I meet says that blus is the right color for the car. Women love it, so you might make your wife jealous with the women hanging on it.
Keeping yellow i cant get over the fact that when i was 20 the canary yellow g60 corrado i had was a show stopper. If i was gonna keep it stock i would op for blue but i did a graphic of a brushed aluminum vielside on the yellow rocks, mix that with a nice lil eaton 90 and i think i can pull yellow off no sweat.Blue is nice but..saw a blue 8 today and was like hmm nice car not WOW.Im am an a$$hole so my wife said keep it it suits ya.I own a blue mdx so when i wanna go covert ill switch up with the wife thx all for help.
