I'm so tired...

I couldn't sleep last night and I toss and turn until about 1:40am when I finally pass out. 2:30am rolls around and my fugging smoke detector starts bleeping that beep that tells you that the battery is dead. It scared the living crap out of me. I was like "WTF?! I'll go back to sleep" and then "BLEEEEEP" and then I was like "son of a!"

So I get out a chair and pull the thing off the ceiling, disconnect it and take it into the kitchen. Just as I'm walking in there, looking at the circular, obnoxious, box of loud noise production, it bleeps at me, right in my face. It's no longer connected to the power on the ceiling and it's still beeping. So I pull the battery out which of course, is dead, put it down on the counter, turn the light off and start walking back to my room. A defiant "BLEEEEEEP" is heard. WTF?! This thing has no battery, it's not hooked up and it's still bleeping at me?!

Apparently, it either has an internal battery as well or a very good inductor storing charge. Either way, I had to put a new battery in it to shut it up so I could sleep. Fortunately I had 9V batteries sitting around so I loaded it up and hooked it back up and went to bed. Then I couldn't go back to sleep because I had gotten to that stage of paranoia where you know it's gonna make a sound and you're just waiting for it to happen, but it never does. I finally fell back to sleep around 3:30.. had to get up at 7 so I got a few hours but damn.. I'm tired...

Oh well.

How is everyone else?

I'm tired from waking up all night, as well. Almost feel as if I've been drinking since last night.. but I haven't.
Not very busy at work this morning, and taking the time to catch up on a couple of things. Also, walking around talking about what to eat for lunch and about the Bourne Sepremacy movie.

I think I need some excitement in my life.

I hurt my back yesterday, so today I can't move. So here I lay, in bed, typing on my huge *** laptop, while getting started on work stuff.

EEEK Jason! How did you hurt your back??

I like the first better, as well!
I'm tossing around a Mickey D's Salad or some garlic bread with pizza sauce from a little pizzaria.

Our one naughty cat decided to crash a big lamp onto the bedroom floor around 3am.

My brain boots about as fast as Windows XP, so it takes forever to dig back through the Event Log in retrospect... OK, I'm awake... what time is it? Heck, what DAY is this? Why am I awake? Oh wait, noise... crap, bad BAD noise... oh no, something's broken somewhere... how could that happen? I was asleep! wait, don't we own cats? Oh geez, we do... ROXIE!!! You're in BIG trouble when I find you!!!

i hurt my back last weekend and have since gone to the chiro twice...each time it relieves the pain for that day but the next day it comes back...the guy even did some acupuncture but that stuff doesn't work...the only thing that works is a good old back cracking

I actually feel ok this morning. I got plenty of sleep last night in an attempt to make up for lost sleep on Saturday night.

My wife and I went in to Philly to see Concrete Blonde on Saturday night. The show sucked. They had an opening band (Turd Bucket or something like that), who wasn't billed. They didn't go on until 9p after we sat waiting for an hour and a half. Their lead singer was poorly mic'd so I couldn't understand a word he was singing. Then Concrete Blonde comes out and proceeds to blast my eardrums into oblivion because they were mic'd too loud. My wife was pissed because they played "like a goddamned cover band!" (her words). Basically they butchered their own songs. We caught the train back to the 'burbs. Got home around 1:30a. Took a shower to wash off the Philly stink. Tried to sleep but couldn't. Got up , screwed around on the PC until I fell asleep at the keyboard around 4:30a. I woke up around 7a to the sound of the cat crying to be fed.

Went and saw The Bourne Supremacy yesterday. I liked it a lot, though I did like the first one better. Hopefully they will make The Bourne Ultimatum to complete the storyline.

Jason, BRx8, and Don, sorry about your backs. I had severe back problems last year. It's not fun and it takes forever to recover. Get some rest and maybe some physical therapy once you're able to get around. Heat and cold, plus Ibuprofen helped me get past the nastiest parts.

Ajax, if you're able, take a powernap at lunch. No more than 25 minutes though, or you'll feel worse. Set your cellphone to wake you up.

The first week we moved into our house the smoke detectror kept going off all night, and we kept hearing a woman's voice everytime it did. Freaked the hell out of us until we finally tracked the stupid thing down and realized it was the detector that had a little voice saying "low battery" right after the beep.

When I opened this thread, I fully expected it to say "Because Meowloud/Kari [pick one] has been running through my head all night." Where have all the trashy threads gone!!??

That's a well-known phenomenon to those of us who spend long periods of time on-call. During particularly bad weeks you begin getting "phantom pager syndrome" where you hear the thing go off just as you're falling asleep. It's maddening. When it happens to me I change the alert tone on the stupid thing. For whatever reason the "phantom" remains the same tone that I've *been* woken up with and a higher part of the mind is able to say "no, that's not a real page 'cause I changed the tone". I'm thinking this is as close as I want to get to schizophrenia.

Ugh, now that you guys have mentioned 'hearing noises' I'll probably do this tonight...
Don't 'cha hate it when you wake up before the alarm goes off, then repeatedly awake thinking it will sound at any moment ARRRGH!

I had Mickey D's salad for lunch. One thing that bother's me about a drive-thru is the fact that the clerk is SO IMPATIENT if you take a moment to check your order before driving off. HEY, you wouldn't have to check it if they got it right!!

Your experience with the smoke alarm is actually funny to hear. Only because the same sh - -. Happened to me .... MORE THAN ONCE !!!!!

My spoke alarms are all connected to each other in the house .
Every six months or so they decide to sound off with an actual alarm (not the little chirp from the low battery). It always seems to happen in the middle of the night so I have to change the sheets when it scares the sh - - out of me.
Anyway I did the same thing where I pulled it off the ceiling and the dam thing still beeps. I think one of them must be bad or going bad.
It is driving me crazy. I'm thinking of taking them all out and living with out them. Anyway ... get some sleep tonight.

I'm still trying to recover from a saturday night of alcoholic cheer & about 4 hours of sleep to go with it (*mumbles light curses at the gf's small bed*) followed by a Sunday spent early with the fam, and then playing two games of hockey at 6:00 and 8:30pm when I'm used to playing a half of a game due to our other goalie being out sick and another team's goalie gone on vacation.

7:15am came a little too soon this morning. I guess I don't have a whole lot to complain about all in all, but just so you know you're not alone in groggy Mondayland...

Hopefully tonight I can fit in one of those delicious 10-hour sleep nights. Wouldn't that be nice...

I finally quit playing Ragnarok last night at 12 am, because if I didn't I'd be dead tired today. Had to getup at 6 am and be in by 7:30 am, darn it sucks when you have a commute of 45 minutes! I need to get a job closer to home. I also forgot my wallet, so I feel very vulnerable right now without credit cards and my license. Good thing I filled gas on Friday! Also, good thing one of my friend's was here in at work, so I managed to get some lunch out of her! Sigh...... now I owe her two lunches.

Ok BTW, where the heck is Hotpot? Is he on vaca? Guy go and buy Solarcain for Kari, she's just being plain lazy and wants someone to pamper her. :D
