How much will your DUI cost?
DUIs are an expensive luxury, especially here in Wine Country. Police Chief Tony Aeilts, of Arroyo Grande estimates an average DUI arrest will cost a mere $12,000.
The bill works like this:
Towing charge for car $160
Car Storage $35 per day
Jail Booking fee and 2 jail days $115
Minimum Fine $1,609
DUI Education Program $637-$1,971
Attorney fees (minimum) $3,500
Victim Restitution fund $0 to $217,000
Auto Insurance Triples
Total (average) $12,000
Ouch!!! So how much would a DUI cost in your area?

A guy I used to work with ended up paying close to $7000 before everything was said and done. Of course, his lawyer was provided by the court, but after sentencing he ended up having to pay attorney's fees anyway, although it was less than the actual rate charged. This was back in 2000, though. It's probably gone up a lot, considering the price of everything has. LOL
