1) I was learning to drive in a Hyundai "NO" Excel. A guy is annoyed I'm driving slow, passes me on the right on a local road, goes really fast and WHAM, hits a car trying to make a left into our streetn.
2) FDR drive, everyone is driving fast, except myself. Very narrow lane and those driving fast are cab drivers, trucks and of course, this burgundy eclipse. I notice he's driving fast, really fast. He makes a jerky turn, left then right, or something, next thing I know, WHAP, side swipes the median and I guess the wheel locks because he's sparking up the FDR for a good 50 ft.
3) In my HS, I was shooting hoops, I take a quick glance at a guy crossing the street to get to the basketball courts. I notice this Escort, already in motion, accelerating. BOOM .. the hits this guy, he gets flung at least 20 ft. We run to him, he says he's "okay" but didn't notice all his front teeth were gone, a gash in his forehead and the fact he couldn't stand up, probably because of the way be was flung. The driver was a female and was sued.
Oh that's gotta suck. Thought so. It's a Mitsubishi Montero. I heard those things have the worst rollover rating, and MM continues to sell, and people continue to buy.
I saw a good one once -- it was on highway 101 north of LA. I was heading back south after visiting Solvang, a mock-Dutch tourist town. As I was coming south, I saw a big ol' Expedition northbound drift into the center median (it was flat dirt), the driver overcompensated and jerked the wheel to their right, and rolled the car onto its side. This was back around 2000-2001 (edit).
I pulled off on the shoulder, and ran over to help. The car was on its left side, so a couple of us jumped on top, the driver was way at the bottom seemingly unhurt, so we pulled her out and set her on the ground. There was a nurse and others there, so I didn't stay but I asked the driver her name and she said "Monica." then I had a sudden flash, this wasn't just Monica, this was The Monica. Damn, shoulda got her number -- she was between boyfriends right then. Anyway, my wife was in the car on the shoulder so I couldn't really make a move. By the time I got home, news reports of her accident were already on the internet.

Funny you mention this, about 2 weeks ago I was standing in front of the tanning salon that I go to, as I got a call on my cell so I went outside to talk. When the light at the signal about 50 yards away from me turns red. About 4 cars slow down & stop, when I hear this nasty screeching from the left and out of my peripheral vision I see this Prelude braking hard and WHAM he hits this lady that had been stopped. The guy was holding his cell phone to his ear, and I saw when he was screeching he drops the cellphone, and holds on to the steering wheel with both hands. He was probably distracted on his cellphone, driving way too fast, and did not see the traffic stopped ahead. It was surreal, like it was in slow motion right in front of me. The Prelude was pretty fixed up, it had a carbon fiber hood, and I definitely saw larger, cross drilled brakes on the car, exhaust, etc. He wound up trashing his front bumper, and he swerved off to the right, so his left fender was all mangled too.
I've witnessed many in my time... will I was coming back from the casino one time, saw this car flip on the highway... witnessed various fender-benders... the worst would have to be when I was 14, saw a mercedes drive into a big rig... the two guys in the car got chopped, sliced and their organs where everywhere... instant death...

I've witnessed a couple myself here in Houston
1.) At the 59S ramp from 288 I saw an old cutlass dive across 2 lanes to make it onto the exit ramp, as a result it slammed into another car on the side. The cutlass ended up running into the water dividing barrels and the other car went into the guardrail. I pulled my FD over and got out to help the folks.
2.) At Scott and S. MacGregor I saw a young girl run the light and hit a guy turning--it was fairly minor.
3.) I can remember hearing several cars crash at night coming around my street (S. MacGregor) and ending up in my neighbors or my yard. The worst was a 92 BMW 325 Convertible that ended up head on into the light post across the street from my house. As well as a guy that I knew that spun out his MKIV Supra Turbo and ended up bending the axel.

well i have seen a couple on the freeway normally some dumbnut rearending someone else. Pretty standard accident.
But the real major one I saw I happened to get a nice front row seat for it. I was the first in line at an intersection heading home after picking some sundaes up from DQ and as I am sitting there a watching the opposing traffic go by I see a guy make a left. He was in a lowered Civic and was making the turn at a fairly high speed. Well as he got halfway through the intersection he gets T-boned by a car - i think it was a lincoln (one of the giant boats of a car) going straight who was definitely speeding up. I figured that the guy was racing to make the turn ant the other guy was racing to beat the yellow. anyway the crash was pretty impressive. the guys slid about 20+ feet back with both airbags going off and glass shattering etc. I figured both cars were totalled. The guy in the civic wasn't moving and the guy in the other car was sitting there holding his wheel in terror. I sat there for a couple seconds trying to comprhend what had just happened. I looked around and thought well it looks like I am going to have to sort this mess out cuz the guy next to me decided to drive off?!?. I put the flashers on and hopped out of my 8. I tell the guy behind me to call 911 and report the accident when I got to the civic the guy had regained consiouness and staggered out of his car with just a couple cuts and a nasty headache. I went over to the other guy who had gotten out of his car and he was okay as well. whew
So now traffic is like way messed up. So I ended up walking back about six car lengths directing my lane to merge to the right. The cops came in about 5 minutes and started handling everything. I got to make a statement and stuff like that. quite fun... thank goodness nobody was hurt too badly

The most impressive one I've seen was when I was in high school waiting for the bus one morning. My parents live off of hwy. 112 between Lecompte and Forest Hill, LA which is a busy road with a lot of speeders and big rigs. Our driveway is in one of the "passing valleys" where it's straight and easy to pass because the road is curvy.
Anyways, there was a jeep cherokee followed by a big conversion van and a car. They were slowing down because the Jeep was turning left at our neighboring nursery. This truck was coming up behind the line and decided to speed pass them all, when BAM! He t-boned the jeep and it rolled like 3 or 4 times towards the office of the nursery.
I never found out if how everybody was doing because the bus came before the cops could make an appearance, but they got assistance from the workers already there.
Eventually the nursery put up a chain link fence around the front so I don't think their office will ever be in jeopardy again.
