I just got a PS3 a few days ago. I am biting my nails waiting for this game, Or any game for that matter. The PS3 is too new and does not have enough games yet. But at least I know I will be able to get GT5

rainbow 6 for the ps3 is fun, also if you like F1 racing, i find f1 ce to a awesome game, but you have to really like non arcade type racing games. because this one is very hard.
also you can dl Gran Turismo HD thru the psn network. drift mode is fun, but the learning curve can be stressfull. i set my tires to normal 1 (tire with no traction) and turn off TC ans Stabilty control.

Knowing the makers of the GT Series, this game will be delayed 1.5 years. Though I do love the graphics, and I am somehow addicted to GT4, I would only give it a 6.5/10 for gameplay.
I hope they bring in: online play, a structured season instead of just picking any type of race at anytime you want. I would also like to see more use of pit stops and maybe directing your pitcrew and see them work. and maybe damage with smarter AI. Other than that, can't wait!!!!
Looks good. However, it takes more than one game to get me to drop 500+tax on a system.
BTW, Project Gotham 4 looks just as incredible too. Though PGR is a bit more arcadey, I was bringing it up just for graphics sake.

GT5 is the most in depth racing sim. yet by a large margin.
Just to give you an idea of how much better the final product will look this is not even the Alpha phase of production.
Each vehicle has been designated 1 developer working no less than 180hrs on modeling alone. As usual, the attention to detail on each vehicle will be impecable.
It will not even release untill 2008, so they have plenty of time to fine tune things. The bump mapping will get better and the shading will improve.
Forza2 has been crashing thousands and thousands of X-Box360s nation wide. Im pretty sure GT5 has it beat so long as it doesnt fry your PS3 harddrive. It will surpass it in any other way, but first and foremost, it wont break your gaming console

Funny you say that. In addition to the current 1.x billion being spent to fix current issues with the xbox360, Microsoft has admitted that there is an inherent flaw with the systems that effects all of them and they will eventually all break. I think they're extending the warranty to 3 years, but you're SOL after that.
No way I'd be buying a 360 after that news.
PS: They didn't have as much problems with the original xbox - because microsoft didn't design it
im buying one now because of this as well. FYI: circuit city has them marked down $100 and a free extra wireless controller.
im not sure if i should get one now or wait until they come with rumble controllers. i like the rumble
Actually, the price should be dropped by $100 at all retailers. Sony already decided that a price cut was in order. Though, a free wireless controller is always nice.

Just had to take a cold shower. Damn those pictures looked hawt!!! And did I see a certain exotic car maker in those photos!?!?! Did they finaly get 'em to sign ova some rights?!?! If so.. oh shytnit if they include online play GT will reach beyond God Status in gaming lol. The one thing that to me annoyed me with 4 was the lack of online after year(s) of hearing them say it will be included and then "A special disk will come out shortly afterward for online play." but it never materialized. Only to hear them say "We never meant it to be played online.". Hopefully Sony realizes that Online play will make or break this game as great as it is online is now a stanard.

The prototype at the annual game developers conf in San Jose was not but, Microsoft did design the production unit and totaly Screwed AMD in the process (the original system board designers) by going with intel.
In any case they had a huge issue with the first gens with defective DVD drives. I had to send mine in twice.

I'll wait until this comes out, who knows it might be another $100 cheaper by then or they might bundle it like they did with the last GT.
Amazon is giving away a free Blu-Ray Bluetooth remote and movie on top of the 100$ discount and the 5 free movies mail on offer put out by sony.
Game magazines are reporting today that the $100 discount is only temporary until the end of September, and Sony has announced that they are phasing out the 60GB model that is current on sale in favor of the 80GB model that they have released in Europe, the 80GB model will come with a pack in game but is pulling the PS2 Emotion engine hardware emulator and going with software emulation for backwards compatibility and it is going back to the $599 price point.
I love my PS3 so I jumped on the Amazon deal last night and ordered a second one to give as a Birthday/Christmas present to my brother (I'm keeping one or two of the free movies though ). Anyhow, peas out yo!
~edit oh yeah and on GT5 / HD
By the way, the first day I was playing the GT/HD Demo on my PS3/Plasma screen my sister came by the house, I was practicing the drift track, she asked why I was watching race car crash videos over and over, she had no clue it was a game without scrutinizing the screen, it looks that good.

Reason: With regard to GTHD
from what i've read (user forums, not sony lies), the ps3 with emulation run ps2 games nicer than the ones with the emotion chip - and backwards compatibility is spotty even with the chip in place. So it's not like you're getting a larger library of options.

yah your right. 11.6 mill has a design flaw . i have a launch 360 has not failed me yet. but then again i really do not play it much (due to pc gaming) . from what i have read, the motherboard warps after a period of time.

Microsoft is counting all of their replacements due to crashes as "sales" in their annual figures.
At E3 there was a servey of Xbox360 owners, and 20% of all owners have replaced/repaired their system once, 16.7% have repaired/replaced their system 3 or more times.
So basically 1 out of every 6 xbox owners have experienced a fatal error.
Microsoft has 7 million XBOX Live gamers, at $20/month, so theyre chalking the whole thing up as a victory anyhow.
Gotta love XBOX.
