It will look ugly! Yes, the ricers will do what they do best--rice it out--but I hope there will be more owners who will keep it tasteful and set an example for the rest of them.
I think there has always been a sort of elegence and refinement to the Mazda rotary cars, which might explain why you don't see many of riced-out RX-7s (at least not in my area), even through 1st and 2nd gens, and even a few 3rd gens, can be bought for less than a new Civic or Integra/RSX.
I believe that it takes a certain kind of driver--a different kind of driver--to pilot, maintain, and appreciate the RX-7. There is less need to look different from everyone else because we and our cars ARE different from everyone else. The same will probably go for the RX-8 when it is finally released. Or at least I hope so.

Its gonna be hard to do a super ricer body kit on this as the nose of the car will probably be copied onto Civics and all them. I will be adding a ricer spoiler probably, but no stickers are goin near my car and NO MIRROR TINT. Also I may do the light trick I mentioned in another post.

This is the type of negative attitude i dislike about people like you who are close minded about upgrading a look on a car. I for one have a lot of taste and i admit some rice out cars are really ugly and yet some have also proven otherwise. The new Rx8 i consider to be ugly no offense but i don't like the side view of it nor do i like the skimpy front. The end of it is fine. If a ricer would improve on the front end i will greatly appreciate it because i would like to be a owner of the rx8 that has an aggressive look infront. The eyes makes it look aggressive but the bumper just doesn't go with it. Well, that's my opinion and "ricer" are the one who actually makes a ugly car look good such as the rx7's, nissan 240, supra etc. I'm not trying to say these car are totally ugly, but what i'm saying is that they could use improvment. So don't flame me. ^___~
A ricer is someone who adds unneccesary and tactful things. A well executed body modification or a nice set of rims is a nice touch to a car, but things that are highly uncharactheristic of the car are ricer. There is nothing wrong with modyfying your car, but slapping some big ol stickers on there and a coffee can muffler doesnt mean you made it look better.
Is it a negative attitude? maybe but we all have to admit we have seen some beautifully done cars, and alot more ugly ones.
Ricers are going to have a tough time trying to shove a fart can in the Rx-8, looks pretty tight back there. Sloraxe what you did with photoshop actually looks nice, but i wouldn't add anything more.

oooooh kay dude. When i speak of modifying a car characteristic i meant the body not stickers nor a muffer wtf?!?!. And i really get annoy when people keep on saying "rice" what does that refer to ASIAN with Bad taste? Why don't we call it "wet bac", "*****", "skin head" etc. Why does it have to refer to a specific group? So for everytime i see a low rider i'll call him a wet back? and for everytime i see a truck i'll just refer it to red necks and so forth! Damn!!!!!!! This whole deal about cars looks being change has made MANY IGNORANT BASTARDS!
Dude, as suggested by the forum, please keep it clean. As I am sure anyone can tell you there are harmful words abound in todays society. I dont agree with such usage of these words even in jest. The term ricer, at least how i think of it, doesnt refer to the asian people and or culture. It simply refers to someone driving a car manufactured and or designed in the asian market. The term is most logically derived from the word rice rocket. The term rice was based entirely upon one of the things that is a staple in the cuisine of the region, not the people. If it were based on the people, it would be a word that if you rented "Full Metal Jacket" or any other vietnam war esque movie, you would hear to a sickening extent.

That does not refer specifically asian people, it refers to an asian car that is subjectively judge by one human being or more. Its not a cuss to be thrown at an asian or asian american, its simply a word that is used to show what one feels is a badly or overly astetichally modifyed car. And since it is many ethnicities, nationalities, races, and people that buy these cars and modify these cars, its a word that doesnt discriminate on color or race or nationality, its a word that discriminates on actions, something that is accepted both legaly and socially due to this.
I don't even think saying a car is rice implies that it's Asian. My definition of rice is putting aftermarket pieces on a car that serve no performance benefit - and in fact many times hurt performance. Also putting parts on a car simply because you think it's cool, or that it looks mad tight yo :D
I got into this on the RX-7 Forum awhile back. Putting 19 inch rims on a RX-7 is rice. Why? Because you only do it because you think it looks cool, and 19 inch rims will undoubtedly HURT performance.
Just for the record, the WORST cases of rice I see nowadays aren't Asians ... or even Asian cars. It's the suburbian-ite 16 year old white crackers whose Mommy just bought them a new Cavalier or new Saturn. Those are the guys with absolutely no taste. I pity them. There's a few in my subdivision that I'd just love to see put through a crusher.

I recently spent an afternoon at work explaining to a co-worker why she shouldn't allow her 16 year old son to add a body kit, rims and fart can to his Cavelier sedan.
hey. that photoshop bodykit don't look that bad. i'd loose the spoiler tho. dont look that cheap and ricey.
actually i take that back. the spoiler looks nice. how is that ricey?
i dont think you can really make this car look "rice" i mean, how many 30K sports car have you seen "riced" out?? not many. the worst i've seen is a bimmer (E36) with "altezzas" i think a good definition of "rice" are SLOW cars TRYING to look FAST. rx-8 is not a slow car

sweet, i know you like it. my friend drops kicks me in the face. it hurt at the time, but a really awesome scene. ill email my Game Master at our Dungeon and Dragons club.
Aside from the 8 covered in Ferrari badges, I don't see a lot of riced out 8's and theres a simple reason for that.
The car cannot be upgraded to make more power cheaply, it's expensive compared to ricer cars, and there are not many body kits available for it. Even fewer kits that fit properly.
It's fundamentally not a ricer car, but the used 8's are starting to get cheap. I think we've already been seeing more of the ricer type buying them (and by the ricer type, i mean young, dumb, and unable to spell or use proper grammar, with a rough idea of how to use a hacksaw, not Asians.) Still, I think the specter of high gas prices will continue to make ricer's shy away from the 8.
