Go Steelers!!

Holy crap, did they squeek that one out. Being a die hard steelers fan(born and raised in Pittsburgh in case some of you are looking at where I'm from) it pains me to say but, I think the Jets deserved to win yesterday and the Steelers should feel DAMN lucky to be advancing. Hopefully they will play a little more disciplined in the AFC Championship game. New England or Indi will be more than happy to knock off the Steelers if they play like they did yesterday. With that said GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a die-hard as well (raised in pitts area... titusville actually ). They DID deserve to lose... kinda. The defense didnt allow anything but a field goal. The offense really did not show up. But if you look at how the Jets could have one... a kick return and interception. 2 plays. I would hardly call that consistent. While the offense may have been less than stellar, I would say the defense held the league best runner inside his crib!

New England, bring em on! Indy... stay away!

Aliquippa here. You're right, the defense did more than their share. Special teams and offense was sub-par. That interception returned for a td was horrible. Ben threw it right to him... Looked like O'Donnell in Super Bowl XXX against Dallas Thanx again Neil. I still think Dallas paid him more than we did that year:D

Not to rain on anyones parade, but the Steelers got really lucky that the kicker missed both of those field goals.. still.. nice win for them, someone was smiling on steel town yesterday.

I agree!!! Stupid O'Donnell. And definately Dallas paid him! They NEVER beat the Stillers in anything. They needed to buy their retribution.

We are also Oakland and Dallas's monkey that has its claws firmly dug into the bone! Those two teams are forever cursed against our Stillers.

Just proves the old adage that "sometimes it's better to be lucky than good"

Kicking fields goals in Heinz field is threading a needle... every time. Esp. on the open end of that field where swirling winds just about take away any chance of a long field goal (i dont think anyone has hit a field goal longer than 46 yards at that end of the field). Luck, yes. But I would rather be lucky than good!

i think theres been a few mid-40 yarders in it's history...but no one has ever kicked a field goal in Heinz Field from 50+ yards. Not kicker friendly country there:p

yes it was lucky as hell (can't believe that field goal hit the upright)....but a win is a win....:D

Every year I ask myself the same question. One of these years I'll get in on one.

The Steelers handily outgained the Jets in yards. Their defense held the Jets offense to three points. The Steelers turned the ball over twice in Jets territory when it looked like they were going in for a score. And lastly, there were TWO big returns for TDs.

Really the game shouldn't have been close. Unfortunately, Ben played terrible and the Steelers made some uncharacteristic mistakes. Fortunately, they were lucky that the Jets don't have a pressure kicker.

After thinking about the game, I am not as despondent about it as I was last night. They played well enough to win if they cut down the turnovers. Hopefully, they got their horrible game out of the way and will be back to normal next week because Lord knows they're going to need to play a heck of a lot better than that.

They will play better. They are one of the few teams that has the near perfect recipe for success (ATL as well).

Run the ball, eat up the clock. If the other team doesnt have the ball, they cant score.

NO TURNOVERS (or take more than you give)

Shutdown defense.

A and C will always be there. Just have to make sure B stays there too...

Sorry guys, the journey stops next weekend. Big Ben is just not experienced enough and the running game won't save him !! Luck helped them this weekend but normally in the playoffs it's talent that rule!

How boring was the Colts-Patriots game? anti climactic it was

I agree (on the second point), it just wasn't the shootout that I expected. As far as the first point, talent he has. Experience, though, you're right. He's somewhat lacking. Nothing phases the man, though. He doesn't react like a typical rookie. If he finally does start to act like a rookie, there is still Maddox in reserve, who has PLENTY of experience. As far as the running game, I wish Cowher would use Duece a little more to give a different look... Just my $.02

Dont forget, with Ty Law (PA boy!), the steelers pretty much handed NE their *** in a bag. I realize that this is the playoffs and it is a completely new game. But Ben will be there and ready. Besides, I dont think they are going to throw a pass attack at NE (besides the long ball) due to that 'subject' secondary... which is actually very good. I would be surprised if Ben had more than 20 pass attempts.

They will run the ball down NE throats. If the game is within a touchdown going into the 4th quarter, steel town will have it. They have 2 great running backs that they can keep fresh and ready to pound an already weakened defense (at that stage). Plus, it is at Heinz!!! Not exactly the friendly confines.

I think also that he has loads of talent but his unbeaten record this year is a bit of a fluke. The kid has nerves of steel and even when he's shaky he looks pretty good handling it. Now think about how great the NE defense was against Manning... it doesn't look good for the Steelers i'm afraid.

I'll give you the divisional round victory as a bit flukey/lucky, but how can you call the entire season a fluke? How can a 15-1 season be a fluke? Its been said time and time again, the steelers dont ask ben to go out there and win games, they just ask him not to loose games. If he doesn throw a pick-six, along with a late game int this sunday, and the steelers still average 4.8 yds/carry on 43 carries like they did on saturday against the Jets....i got a feelin....(you die hards should know what comes next)

I like it that my Steelers are an underdog in this one, just one more reason to get fired up.

And ease up on O'Donnell down there....those plays were both Cory Holiday's fault, timing patterns, and the rookie/ practice squad receiver didnt know the playbook....look it up.

-D
Go Steelers

Too late to change/alter my anger now. It's been geared towards O'Donnell for too long now...

Ben Roethslisberger had little to do with the success of the Steelers. Their impenetrable defense and the duce + the bus brought them as far as they are. The steelers are a great team, Ben could soon become a great quarterback. He has great chemistry for this team and looks to be a good leader, but his numbers certainly don't put him up there with the likes of Mannings or Marinos. I think he only had one game with 300 yards passing, and I think 2 with 3 td passes. He's a smart guy, I think he could be like Montana, not a great passer, but very smart always getting the job done. Unfortunately for the Steelers I don't think they have the slightest chance against the Patriots. Granted they beat em up pretty bad weeks ago, The Patriots didn't show up that day. I predict next year, the Steelers will be a better team, but for now, it's looking like another Pats superbowl victory.

I think the difference between Sunday's game and Week 7's game will be Corey Dillon. Doesn't necessarily mean the Pats will win, but it guarantees it won't be the same kind of one sided affair.

As to the comment about Ty Law in the first game, hell both he and Tyrone Poole were knocked out for the season in the first half of that game. You can't lose both your starting corners at the same time and not suffer. You'll notice that they've only lost once since, so the backups have improved quite a bit. The bigger loss for this particular game will be Richard Seymour.
