finally.. some new models... (cars)

whats up with all the new additions to the automotive market in the 03+ years. i remember back in the day when they still made the supra, 300zx, rx-7, and 3000gt's. then they stopped production on thier current Gen. for a quite a while i;ve been lookin at what cars we have to choose from. it was just last year that if u were in the market to buy a new sports/coupe car, all u had to choose from were preludes, civics, celicas, miatas, etc... nothing reallie like the originals.

all in all..... im glad that the rx-8 is coming out. but do u guys know for what reason that all the sudden rx-8, 350z, EVO, STi... etc.?

thanks

My theory is that it's competition. One manufacturer comes out with something now and exiting, then another manufacturer competes with their new offering. Pretty soon, you have a gang of manufacturers trying to get a foot-hold in the new niche market.

2002 model year has been a very exciting year for new models, like the altima, WRX, RSX, G35 sedan, MINI, and a few others.

2003 - we get the RX-8, Evo VII, VW GTI 337(?), WRX Sti, G35 coupe, 350Z, Mazda6, Honda Accord, and several others.

I can't stand it...I know I'll have to wait at least a year with my current car (95 beretta - 125K miles), and I already have new car fever.

it's just the natural progression of cars

60's - wagons
70's - muscle cars
80's - some small Japanese sports cars started showing up
90's - SUV Hell
00's - looks like it's going back to the little Japanese sports cars again

Hows that Fiat going? I always liked that car..

G35 Coupe gets my thumbs up for styling, much much nicer than G35 sedan, probably since its lower, smaller and wider ;-)

I agree, people are yearning for a sports car after owning an SUV. I know I am.

And also a comment about the G35. The coupe (and only the coupe) looks good. And I believe it has the same chassis and engine (detuned a notch) as the 350Z.

I'd like to see the return of the 3000GT although it lasted the longest year-wise than all the other cars.

i think they wanted to give the sports cars a chance to be wanted agan because once a new one comes out everyone want it and get tired of it. its kinda like evolution it comes and goes. they wanted the sports car market to come back 1st
