Exhausted, yet flooded with caffeine

Damned finals are taking days off my lifespan

I'll be so happy once I get OChem out the way, it's such a PITA.

My motivation? I'm hoping to get the MS catback and maybe some springs over my month-long winter break.

Forgive me, just had to let that all out.

Back to memorizing alkyne reactions...

You = me last week.

Though, it's a hell of a feeling when you open that door to freedom after your last final is over.

Get a set of little cards write part of reaction on one side rest on the other. You can also make cards with questions and answers or diagrams of reactions. When you sit down on the toilet you play the card game - if you can answer or remember it - you can put it aside, if you mess up you have to keep it playing. Things that you really really must remember - read these over just before going to bed - there is a special memory gadget in the brain that remembers what you were doing before you went to sleep (does not work with high alcohol levels) Food may work better than coffee for staying awake - NoDoz tends to make you toxic, pee a lot, and be forgetful!
Put study notes everywhere - on your frig, telephone, toilet paper - and get someone to read their notes to you and who will let you read yours to them - if you get a study group everyone teaches the same lesson - it really helps everyones memory-

Make up dirty jokes to help you remember the hardest stuff -
Example (OK everyone else cover your eyes)
You are trying to remember the valence of nitrates vs nitrites-
Well, there was this man and he had a really nagging wife.
He also had a good friend, Rite. Rite had been tried and was to be hung but they were hoping the governor would give him a pardon. The Man was really stressed and the woman was driving him nuts so he went to take a shower...
Now, his wife, who really did care about him, is watching TV hoping to hear about the pardon, and sure enough CNN announced that the Governor had pardoned Rite - So the wife burst into the bathroom, pulled back the curtain and shouted "They are not hanging Rite tonight. " And the man said " Nag, nag nag!"
Now whether you get the joke or not you will never forget that the proper number, if its nitrite, is 2!

You can find your own memory aids for organics...

I feel your pain. I got three hours of sleep last night after studying for my hist exam...now tonight I'll be up until the wee hours trying to memorize the issues surrounding social security, the Patriot Act, the bureaucracy, and other fantastic poli sci things...

I can't wait until Thursday, when it's all over. Then freedom till Jan 17....

Thanks WF...

I've tried the card thing but it doesn't seem to work for me. Just writing down all of them on paper and looking them over works best for me. I'm better with still objects I guess.

There's a lot of 'refreshing' going on, I'm not learning anything new, which was the hard part for the average test, and I'm just fixing my weaknesses. I guess this is obvious for a final exam, but in this case, that's a real bonus.

I'm dying during my finals too. Depending on how I do on my exams, I'll either get into the business school here or have to settle for being an econ major...why oh why did I slack off so much other semesters haha

Being a student is a demanding experience - and you don't realize it untell you are no longer a student and then return to that environment - It is always a humbling experience! Sometimes, now that I am retired, I consider going back to college just for a class in something mindless like ceramics or grafting vines....and as I realize I am no longer up for a 100 mile bike ride, I am out of training for any desire to read every page of the social security act or even the last 6 years of the congressional record, or make chemical jokes about a trans - parent, or a cis-boom-bah
