Like most of the other members, I cannot possibly hope to match the personal messages of condolances from people who knew some of these people personally, but I think everyone here feels for these people and their families.

While our hearts go out to the people affected by these terrible events, lets also make sure that we keep in mind that these people were not all that different from us.... and that WE should learn from these events and try to make sure that we don't inflict that greif on anyone else.

It's all too easy to look towards the younger members who may be inexperienced etc... but we are all subject to that momentary lapse of concentration, or unexpected obsticle.

While we all love the cars, lets not forget that they do not make us invincible. A fast sportscar IS a dangerous thing to be treated with respect....

I can tell you the critical mistake right off the bat..

They probably tried to open the door without water being inside the car. You can't push a door open when there is an imbalance of pressure on the inside/outside of the car. You need to roll down the window, fill the car with water, and the door will easily open.

Don't ask me how I know that :P

Herc, I don't think it's appropriate for us to start a discussion on how these events happened or what could have been done to avoid them.

There are undoubtedly many things we don't know, and right now the people involved need to come to terms with what has happened, not wonder what might have been if only somthing had been done differently.
