This is one area that the cops need to butt out. Modifying your own car is one thing but stereotyping it based on those mods is another. Until they catch you street racing, you weren't. I definitely don't condone street racing in any form but starting crap with everyone with a modded car is just pure bs. Another reason why I refuse to live out there.
This really sucks given the fact that I live in California. I really hate the cops here. I also didn't know that they could stop you just for not having a front license plate(as I don't have one on my 8 because it makes the car look buck-toothed). Well, I guess I will have to come up with some contingency plans to try to avoid that.

I dont agree with video at all but to let some of you know, anything you do to modify a car is illegal. Whether it be a license plate holder or taillights or not having a yellow blinker etc. is illegal. It is petty but still able to have a ticket written up for. But I do believe the video is B.S.
It's laws like these I wish rednecks were into modifying Japanese vehicles, so pigs in PD and Govt don't have to waste their time in this. Why do you think Harleys run around waking up an entire zip code all the time? What, no laws against that? Of course not!
Until Asians start riding Harleys and Racing in Domestic cars, no laws are going to be filed against those vehicles.
I guess california street racers with Vipers, Vettes and other factory built racers do not get touched under this law?
What a bunch of crap! Arrest the people who are actually street racing and stop the profiling.
The police should have to prove safety or emission violations before thay can impose penalties as shown in the video.
i guess even though some of these parts are carb certified they are still illegal?.....so why do they advertise 50 state legal?......that video is just sad!
They won't profile for suspected Terrorists, but they'll profile for street racers. Don't get me wrong, I don't think ethnic profiling is a good thing, but if you are going to do one, which would be the priority? I moved to California in 1998 for a past job, and I left and got back to Texas as quickly as I could. That place is screwy.

The CARB sticker has to be specifically for the year/make of your vehicle to be legal. This is also the reason I havn't bought a turbo yet.

I dont think i even have a comment for that.....Thank Goodness that FLA doesn't have emissions crap..Although, the muffler does always get people nailed..oh wel
This is how police departments generate revenue... by ticketing. It's all about money.
If you are placing your bets on illegal modifications on a car, you are gonna win by profiling the Honda driver with the noisy muffler and stickers. It's a safe bet.
Those Honda Civic kids are just kids basically and don't know or care about legal vs. illegal.
I'm sorry, but street racing's popularity exploded over the last ten years because Hondas were being raced. It was Civic this or Integra that.
Cops notice this. The fart muffler says "notice me" the crazy graphics/stickers say "notice me". Now that your racing and crashing or killing yourself or others, the police department has no other choice but to crack down.
Sure, there have ALWAYS been illegal street races (especially when good ole' boys were driving their muscle cars), but the Honda crowd uped the ante by its sheer popularity and size and danger.
You got what you wanted! They sure notice you now! Boo-hoo...
