So I took the car out, went to homedepot and mcdonalds, ran into quite a few strangers who were quite taken with the rx8.
McDonalds :
1st window, cashier : "Shit dogg, thats tight, what is that" , "Its a mazda rx8", "damn thats dope"
2nd window, server : "Is that the new mazda", "yes it is, the rx8" , "wow thats really nice, does it ride nice", "yeah ive got the sports suspension, but it rides great" ... Then another employee comes to the window "dayum, how fast that be", "Its not to bad" , "so what like 150mph" , "yeah it will do that, its gearing will take it to 180+mph" , "wow so that will go 200mph" , "ummm yeah, sure"
HomeDepot :
Parking lot, some guy in a truck : "whoa, is that the new ferrari, the uh, SM3600" , "you mean the 360CS" , "yeah" , "no its a mazda" , "damn thats american, wow...looks like its from sweeden or something" , "well its from Mazda, japan, but ford owns them" , "ohh, i dont like ford" then he walks way...
On the way home, I was in a lane next to a C5 corvette, I had been next to it, behind it, infront....just driving down the street on my way home : "Is that the new 4 door bently" , "you mean the flying spur" , "yeah i think so, its the 4 door version of that coupe bently makes right" , "no, its a mazda" , "ohhh, so its the 4 door version of the SC430" , "not its a mazda, not a lexus...its not a 4 door version of anything, its the rx8" , "ohh like a miata with 4 doors" , "yeah, sorta" , "thats pretty cool, looks nice" , "thanks"
My car is stock, other than tinted windows and the Mazdaspeed front bumper I just put on. Monday my side skirts come in...I wonder what people will say then

Yeah, but what does that say...Mazda is just not talking about the RX8 enough. Some of the sales issues are Mazda's own fault. (while I know some people are just clueless to cars)
This car has too many qualities for them to be ignoring it like that, it's as if they are satisfied with the sales they have gained already and don't care too much about advertising the car a bit more.
^ I agree, everytime I see a mazda commericial, the 8 is always in the background somewhere\..I see a few Rx-8 Billboards her e in ocala but that's about it.
Maybe they are satisfied with sales. After all, the -8 is sort of a niche vehicle, not really a flagship. At least, that's the case from what I can see.

I had a guy at Taco Bell bust out a "Dayum!" "Is that the new Mustang?"
I do like the looks of the new '05 style mustang but it has little on the 8 for handling. It is similar to a lumbering lineman when passing another car.
ScudRunner do you see a lot of 8's in Iraq? Just wondering if any of them are going to see your line about shooting at you? It is a good line but some of them may be more affected by reverse psychology and shoot at you or maybe because the quote is so flippin' huge.
I've never had anyone say anything that stupid to me. Once i say its a mazda RX-8, they know exactly what it is.
From what ive observed, i havent seen any RX-8 commercials with the RX-8 screaming til redline... Oh well, i guess its them voiding warranties so often they got busted for it :P
You make jokes about them shooting their guns in the air in celebration, but those asshats do that all the time. I wonder where all the bullets land? As far as the size, I mentioned in another thread that my sig used to be normal text size, but on this last trip they were still shooting at me, so I thought I'd try something different. Finally, no, I haven't seen any 8's in Iraq, but it's a worthy goal, don't you think?
