Well, I finally finished the fiberglass enclosure I've been working on so I figured I'd share some of the pics. This was my first time messing with fiberglass and I must say that it is a pain in the @$$! After this experience, I've concluded that the 4080 boxes are very reasonably priced. I basically just followed the tutorial in this thread: http://www.a4mods.com/index.php?page...es/subbox.html. In the end, this was a good learning experience but not something I would do again. Anyway, on to the pics:

Oh wow.... Looks great! Looks like plenty of air space.

How did you brace it to the car? What's in store for the amp?

There was a plastic clip that held the trunk liner to the metal. I removed that and put a bolt through the fiberglass and screwed it into the hole where the clip was. I don't know if I'm going to do anything with the amp yet besides just cleaning up the wires.

Snipaz, you can buy fiberglassing materials at Home Depot/Lowes. But I recommend finding a local boating repair shop/surfboard shop. They often use higher quality resins and are often the same price or cheaper. They usually offer some type of bi-axil cloth too. (For those needing that extra strength)

I have done more than my fair share of fiberglass work. Honestly, it all comes down to time. I don't mind the work really..... I just don't have the time to mess around with it. I own a pair of 4080 boxes and while they are indeed PERFECT... I still believe they're a touch over priced. Maybe the recessed grill that it comes with it adds to the price....

I wouldn't believe you if you told me that was your first time working with fiberglass. Looks great, definitely a professional looking job. Very nice indeed!

Just a question though, where did you get that grill? is it the one from parts express? Any rattling or does it fit pretty tight?

Yep, the grill and the carpet both came from parts express. And no, the grill doesn't fit well. It tends to vibrate off. It may fit better with a different sub that doesn't have such a thick outter ring.

They hold the mounting ring in place, while he stretches the cloth (fleece, whatever he used) over the front. Then glass over the front.

Looks awesome man! Carpet matches really well, is that the medium gray parts express carpet? Looking to get some myself.

It's the charcoal color. It doesn't match exactly but I think it's about as close as you're going to get. Then again, the carpet on the floor doesn't really match the carpet on the sides so it's not that big of a deal.

what size sub is that? 10 or 12?

(i myself am trying to decide between a 550w 12" or a 350w 10")

i thought a 12 might be too big for the boot space- but if yours is- IT LOOKS TIGHT! think i could be swayed to go for the 12 if thats what you made the box around.
