Question Baton Rouge & New Orleans dealership recommendations

Hello boys & girls! I just bought an '04 MT with 5,400 miles on it and I 'm looking for the best dealership in the area to do recall work on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can't give a nod to any service dept's due to me doing all my own work and never needing the Stealerships help. However I would go with Diamond Mazda where I bought my 05 last week or Bill Hood in Hammond.

Diamond in Baton Rouge does good work, can take time though as it's a smaller dealership. They did all of my work and I am very satisfied. I don't recommend, however, Hollingsworth Mazda. Those guys are crooks. Steer clear.

Diamond is good but they screwed me hard. Sceduled the recall for late Oct. They callled to reschedule for Nov1 due to mechanic's illness. Fine, understand. Called on Oct 31 to make sure it was still a go but said nope, they would have to reschedule it. I told them I wasn't upset but they should have given me a courtesy call, otherwise I would have showed up.
They tried to give me some b.s. and got an attitude with me. I just laughed at the guy. I'll keep you guys posted on the situation.

lol. When they gave me a rental, It was a Jeep Laredo. They sell Mazda, Jags and Land Rovers and they rent out Chryslers. I know its through Enterprise, But I was hoping to drive another Mazda.

It's not technically a new engine. It's a rebuit one from what I have read.

Did your engine show any signs? (Power loss, rattle, stalling, etc)

Actually I was totally suprised that they're replacing the engine. I've had the car for 23 months and from what I could tell, it ran like a champ.

In the time I've had the car I brought it in for

(1) fogged taillight, (at which time I believe they did a flash update)

(2) for them to replace the drivers side sun visor (at which time I think they did another flash update)

like I said iwas over a 2 year span

i brought my 8 to diamond mazda and they were real nice to me..they gave me the new cx-7 to drive as long as they had my car, which was a nice suv!..they said it was a program for the 8 owners who needed the recall work. it only took 2 days to re-program the powertrain and replace the spark plugs, i also was having problems with my breaks so they just replaced the pads for free under the warranty

Not Hollingsworth

I have been to both Diamond and Hollingsworth. I was not terribly impressed with either, but as I have my 8 at Hollingsworth for over a month and they have not even been able to diagnose the CEL... I would definitely NOT recommend them. I will update this if they are able to win me over...but don't hold your breath.

Does anyone know a private shop that works on rotary? I think my car is just rotting at Hollingsworth, and I could take it to Diamond, but I am pretty fed up with both of them.

Paretti is OK, depending on the Service Advisor you get. I get my 8 serviced there for the things I can't do myself or dont have time to do...

But, BE WARNED... There is/used to be a female service advisor there that doesn't know her *** from a hole in the ground... My advice, just run if you see her coming to help you...

I brought my son's Mazda 3 there because the rear-view mirror mount had cracked and the mirror was dangling from the windshield. She tried to remove the mirror; she couldn't. She then told me the entire windshield would have to be replaced.

I told her to wait right there; I went to the parts counter, and asked the parts manager to pull up an exploded view of the mirror on his computer. I looked at the diagram, went back out to the car, pressed the mirror release tab on the back of the mount and the mirror popped right off.

I went back to the parts counter with the broken mirror and the service rep; the parts guy felt so bad he gave me the mirror at dealer cost.

Bottom line... Talk to the mechanics, and the parts guys first, not the service advisors, especially the women.

Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE WOMEN, this is not about sex... No matter what sex you are you should know how to do your job, or get another one...

PARETTI ******* SUCKS! DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR THERE FOR SERVICE...EVER!!!

Seriously, I have had just horrible experiences with Paretti every time I bring my car there, dating back to 2008. When I had issues with my 8 last year, same difficulties with them. I would hit Brandt, or other dealerships mentioned in this thread.

Now, would I buy a car from Paretti if I were ever to buy a Mazda again? Yes, because they are high volume and you can get a better price. But service? Nah...never.
