WingleBeast - Bad Guy

So this guy posts up an ad looking to trade his chrome fuel door for a winning blue one:

https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-parts-s...g-blue-229786/

i contact him to see if he's still interested, and he replies in a day or so. i explain that i don't actually HAVE a WB fuel door, but i'll go get one if he still wants to do the trade.

he says yes. i ask him to send some pics along as well. couple days pass by. i ask him if he's going to send the pics and confirm if i should buy the door to trade with him. he confirms. i buy the door. no pics.

i give him 3-4 days, then i follow up. he says he's busy and works for the army (wowy ) but he'll send the pics over the weekend. of course, no pics sent.

so i give him til midweek and then follow up AGAIN, and he says he's busy, and he'll take pics and send them to me over the next weekend.

i tell him that i get that he's busy (as no one else ever is), and that's fine, just send me pics when you can, send them when you say you will.

then no more responses. i dunno if i somehow offended his delicate sensibilities by asking him for something he already agreed to, giving him 3 days+ time beyond his own self imposed deliver dates before inquiring each time, when he's already sooooo atrociously busy or what.

i'd be annoyed regardless, but i'm further irritated that i had to spend money for a door that's completely useless to me, that's now gathering dust in a box, just because some jagoff can't follow up on his own WTT thread, snap a pic on his phone, and do a trade.

if there's two sides to every story, i'm genuinely curious what the other side would be.

just on general principle, don't deal with this toolbag

That is some bad communication on his end. I would have made sure I received pics before I bought the door though. Sorry to hear this.

You bought a door to trade before confirming what he had to offer? What if he sent pics and you didn't like it for some reason? Maybe he thought you would wait until he sent the pics?

I know what Nelson would say ...

sure, no one to blame but myself for that. i WAS very clear and upfront with the guy, make sure you want to do the deal with me, because i'm about to put out some money for this. and he confirmed.

only thing i can say is, i wanted to get the only WB door i found while i still could so i'd have something to trade with this guy. i have no doubt he has a chrome door in decent condition -- was only asking as a precaution. but nevertheless, i should have waited to see if he would even put in that modicum of effort before taking any risk.

doesn't change the fact that the guy's a deadbeat.

haw haw?

Haha! I can't believe this exists!

Ninja never sent me any money, conveniently left out that he didn't actually HAVE a WB fuel door. Our conversation ended with him asking for photos.

I command a platoon of 40 infantrymen, I work on average 70+ hours a week, and during this interchange deployed to the Joint Readiness Training Center for three weeks and out of contact by phone or computer. So yes, a fuel door was not the top thing on my mind. Honestly when I returned I had forgotten all about it.

Was I bad at setting up a plan? Yes. Did I every explicitly agree to or coordinate a trade? NO!

No addresses, pay-pals, or time was ever set; and honestly, after seeing this reaction I am kinda glad I didn't go through with it.

I am a very busy man and apparently my RX8 is not as high a priority as ninja wanted it to be, but I am hardly a bad guy.

For much more relevant transactions that show my true nature:

Where I sold Herigo my turbo kit in payments and delivered within a week of payment.

Where I bought Aerohead's supercharger in full and paid on schedule

And finally Ninjas PM's with me in their entirety. You notice he didn't mention buying a door till after he had done it, and before I agreed to a trade.

Yeah, that was kinda stupid of him... All this just to save a few bucks on buying a chrome door directly?

Don't get me wrong, I have no problems with the guy. But he kinda brought this on himself with his over eagerness. I screwed up, but not a "Bad Guy" worth screw up.

sigh.... "stupid" would be making presumptuous statements with no factual basis. it wasn't about saving a few bucks, it was about buying a part that's no longer available anywhere. show a me webpage that has it in stock. show me an ebay auction.

glad to hear you at least acknowledge that you"screwed up". you omitted PMs where i specifically asked for confirmation (and got it) because i was about to pick up the door from this guy, so i'm not sure how i "conveniently" left anything out. you also omitted a few subsequent PMs of me asking wtf is going on.

in the end, i didn't bring anything on myself; that was all you, bud -- i only put myself in the position to take a loss, which wouldn't have happened if you would've just done what you said you would when you said you would do it.
it'd all be a non issue.

if i'm stupid it only makes so for relying on someone unreliable (that'd be you).

Sorry to hear it worked out how it did, maybe you could resolve your differences and continue on the transaction. I know how it is to be busy, very busy. I work 45 hours a week for the Navy, I am in college full time, have a baby on the way, have a daughter 14 hours away that I got for the summer for two weeks and then had to take back home. And, was supposed to go on a detachment for a week on the 19th but was cancelled. It is crazy the amount of time I make to work on my car, but I live on base and it takes 5 minutes to get home. And on top of that I have actually worked the last 12 days with no days off. I have a three day weekend this weekend though. Can't wait. On top of all this I made a meet last weekend.

Ninja I have posted every pm I got, the only ones I left out were the ones I missed while I was at JRTC which were all pretty much the same. Never did you mention having to buy a new one or I confirming that I recognized that fact. Let me figure out how to post up the actual PMs. You jumped the gun and paid for it, and in your anger you are calling me a liar, and that sir upsets me. I have not attacked or disparaged you so stop doing it to me.

honestly, it's irrelevant. everyone else saying i was dumb to buy the door first is basically saying i was wrong to put my faith in you. you're not entitled to say that, since you're the problem.

get upset all you want, "sirs" and all, but bottom line is you're a flake, you suck at communication, you don't keep your own word, and you're full of an overly inflated sense of self importance to top it all off.

I'm not saying anything other than you are being less than truthful about what was said between us. I think the two $5000 transactions I completed on this forum proves I am not unreliable. You dreamed up an agreement based off me trying to send you some photos. In the end it wasn't as important to me as the time I was putting into my career during those 3 weeks. And as far as inflated sense of self importance I'm not sure how you get off insulting me. I have not called you anything here. I am proud of my service but you haven't even seen me start to brag about anything.
Stick to the facts and get off the personal attacks.

The only thing a agreed to do was to try and send you pictures, my failure there hardly set you up for taking a loss, who here honestly would ever start a transaction before seeing the product, other than you

According to your pm this is the order of events:

Make contact
Trade photos
Agree to swap
Trade addresses
Ship

We never got past step 2, you buying your friends door was of your own accord before you ever saw what I had or if I wanted to trade.

the only thing i'm blaming you for is being a flake and not following through on your own thread.

if YOU decided YOU were too busy, then you don't have to tell me you're going to snap a picture the next day, repeatedly, or that we're going to do the deal or anything else. you can just respond like a normal person and say you're very busy right now, or you're going away for 3 weeks or whatever. am i talking to a child here, or a '40 man platoon commander'?

this isn't about fuel doors and cars and career priorities or anything else. just do what you say and follow through on your word. what's to argue?

What to argue is that you are telling people I scammed you! You bought a fuel door in anticipation of trading a part before even seeing one photo or confirmation from me that a trade was going to happen. That is not my fault, you have NOBODY to blame but yourself. People on here and other forums change their mind, sell to a higher bidder, or do anything else on a daily basis. You just had a guy cancel a deal with you because you quoted him 800-1000 for international shipping, are you going to claim he scammed you too? You lost out on an opportunity in getting my fuel door because it wasn't my priority and I didn't send you pictures before I left for 3 weeks. But I did not scam, breach contract (verbal or otherwise), or cheat you in any way. This 'Bad Guy' thread is off base and unnecessary, there are plenty of people here who would vouch that I am an excellent member of this community.

And finally, stop attacking me. I am not a child. I do NOT have to answer my priorities to you. The lives of my soldiers, their well being, and my career are much more important to me than you are. I have done enough in my few years on this earth that nobody in this world, save the .02% that have gone before me need to lecture me on my personal or service history. I don't care what you have done, what you call your profession, or how you live your life; but I do care when you think that something has given you the right to disparage it. I have done things you will never experience; more physically, emotionally, and mentally difficult than you probably ever will. And nothing you say will convince me otherwise. I am not here to argue that. Keep your discussion and rants to my actions on this board and in this community, and don't remark on what you may think of my personal priorities or how you think I do my job. It is easy to be a tough guy on the internet, but I have had the opportunity to do it in real life; I am not perfect, but unless you somehow outrank me, or have been in my shoes more often than I, you need to back off what I do outside the RX8 community.

WingleBeast - Good Guy

I did a multi week transaction with him as he has mentioned at over $5k. He was upfront about his status in the military and that may force him to not respond instantly to PM's and such. In this case he's 'manned up' and taken responsibility publicly for the issue....I don't see where this rates a Bad Guy thread....

I'd buy, sell, or trade with him again any time. Nuff said.....
