so two days ago i parked my car for the night it was running fine. left it run for about a min b4 i shut it off like always. the next morning i go to start and ive got nothing. they car does not even try to start. the weird thing is my headlights come on and so do my dash lights but my stereo, power locks and power windows do nothing. my bat was bad but i replaced that and still i have nothing? so needless to say i am at a loss
any help would be great!!

Check your battery voltage....get back to us...if it's 12.3 ish...it won't be the battery.

Then you choices are starter/solenoid, ign fuse, switches..tranny switch if it's a MT

Most likely is you left something on...trunk light, glove box light etc...

All your high load things aren't working.......probably dead battery

i replaced the battery yesterday bc it was bad but when i put the new one in i am still having the same prob

Well...if it is a new battery it should be OK.... ( I'd still check the voltage )

Check the fuse box....both of them and see if you have a blown fuse

Define "does not try to start" for us. Does it attempt to turn over but never catches?

If it tries but never catches, then it is probably flooded. Not sure one minute is enough. I just never shut it off without driving it around the block once(after warm up). This is even if I'm just moving it out of the garage.....I'm just NOT going to flood this car and have to go through this unless it happens some other way.


If it does do anything at all and doesn't even attempt to turn over, then I'd start checking all the fuses under the hood. Oh................check all your battery connections again. Just because some lights work doesn't mean you've got a good solid connection.

i did check the fuses but ill do a recheck just to make sure i did not miss anything and i will check the connections again as well. and when i say it will not start i mean it does not even try to turn over. my roommate did flood my engine once before so i know what that is like and how to fix it. this is completely different. i turn the key my gages come on but my engine does nothing at all

Check all fuses under the hood and also on the inside drivers panel again.............as Dannobre said. I'll go look at the wiring diagram again here real quick, but check all of them.

Auto or manual?

A bad ground off the negative side of the battery can cause this. Check and make sure when you took the cables off to change the battery, that you put ALL of them back on(both sides), that they are clean, and that they secure.

If it was just the no start thing...I would guess it's the tranny interlock switch...but you seem to be down on power on anything with a high current draw....so to me it still points to battery/connections...there isn't one fuse that would effect all of those systems at the same time...

Humor me...and check the battery voltage where it enters the fuse panel.....that will tell you if youhave a good connection...then again on the battery itself

Agree there...can't be one fuse. Thought about the interlock switch too, but I guess we need more info first.

ok so get this guys.. i checked my connections and they were fine from the bat, then i pulled all my fuses again they are all square none of them were blown that i could tell. tried to start it after i had put all the fuses back and i still had nothing.. then my lil bro jumped in the car and it started right up? the only thing that it is doing weird is my traction control symbol is on constantly. so im still under warranty so im going to take it to my closest dealership this week to see what the heck is going on. thanks everyone for the help i really do appreciate it bc i love my car and i love driving my car but when it comes past the basics i dont know squat about fixing my car

the traction control will blink for a few miles since it needs to re-learn.

When you start it...turn the wheel all the way left...then right...shut it off...and the Steering will be OK

^ Listen to the man.....he's correct(and very wise!). You must reset that everytime you pull the battery loose. You don't really actually have to start the car, just turn it to "On", the do the wheel thing, then shut it off. Then you can start as normal.

If you do decide to start it to do the wheel thing, then make sure you let it get to operating temp BEFORE you shut it down! I know you know that, but when doing this reset, it's all too easy to forget......then you could have flooding issues!
