Why weight lifters can't drive ALMS prototypes!

LOL! I was sorting out my track pictures and came across these pics of me and my wife at the Mazdaspeed camp. 230lbs of muscle will not squeeze into one of these cars, you really have to be a feather weight to drive one of these cars.

Oh well, maybe in the next life!

As you can see , my wife fits in there fine. I am jealous!

Pic of me and wifey at the ALMS ceremony in St. Petersburg Fl.

I think your wife is still too high up in the seat lol. Imagine wearing a helmet also, her head would be right in front of the intake! I tried getting into the driving position and it's wayyyyyyy down there, the pedals are actually above where your butt is. I could barely see over the front! (I'm 6 foot nothing but not nearly as jacked as you..) The thing is ridiculous.

Yeah she didn't want to slide all the way in.... but you can see, you really have to be a slim jim to drive these beautiful machines.

the 'standard' racing car driver is about 5'7" 150lbs, just slightly larger than your garden variety horse jockey

Really i always wondered about that....

Alfy28, thanks man, the wife had a blast that day, it was her first race, and definitely not her last. Were planning to go to Road Atlanta in October.

I like the "Mach 5" on the #5 car. I always wondered if the super secret motor that Pops built referred to the Rotary.. Hmmmmmmmm

Hell yeah, there just a awesome team with a awesome car. Acura is getting there game together this year, i think it will be a great battle. And Audi better revise there chassis, they have the power, but there chassis is very weak in the corners, Pugeot has it the best all around machine out there.

That may be true, but Dan Gurney was able to squeeze his 6'3" frame into quite a diverse array of cars. I heard he wasn't too shabby a driver either.... ;-)

Cheers

That was almost 50 yrs ago. And they had to specially build the the Cobra Coupe with a bump in the roof just so he could sit in the car. Before that he raced open wheel and roadster cars.

He raced the Cobra coupe too? I know about the bubble roof built on the GT40.

Cheers
