Yeah! This is the thread I've been looking for! Give me a minute, the old one is still sitting in the driveway...

//Edit
Here it is, the bane of my existence. It drives well, but the transmission is grindy and I hate the color. The 2003 Hyundai Elantra.

Abit dirty thanks to the dust storms, but so is everything else.

94 Buick Park Avenue (worst god dammned car ever, my father forced it upon me instead of fixing my s10 I inherited from my paw paw)
82 s-10. (Hand me down from step dad, he got the first one they got in at the local chevy lot in the 80s)

80-something goddamned barf green pontiac 6million or hell I dont ******* know. (Second and last piece of **** car forced on by my dad.

There was not a single damn thing good about it, it smelled aweful, it was an aweful color, "new" paint wasn't baked on properly and was flaking, bad alignment, slipping trans, bad fuel pump (would die at stops unless you two footed it, and then it would overheat).

Bad cooling fans, oil leaked from every ******* gasket on it, including the ones that had nothing to do with oil.

Brakes were shitty at best. Terrifying in most cases. It had exhaust leaks. Doors and windows leaked, and to top it offffff no ac (it was an option). So I eventuall crashed it into the river, told my dad it was stolen and refused to take a dollar from him for another car.

97 Saturn SL1 (my first car I picked out)
2002 Saturn SL2 5spd DOHC.
94 Saturn SL2 5spd DOHC (Backup beater I used while I turboed the above saturn)
77 Celica GT Fastback (started my RWD jap car passion)
96 Saturn SC1 (Dohc swap)
95 Eclipse GST
91 Talon TSi AWD
95 Eclipse GSX (Converted to 97-98 talon body style)
92 Talon Auto AWD (Hell of a sleeper, electric cutouts on 3" downpipe to a stock catback, FP Turbo, built engine, ran 10.4s for days)
88 RX7 GXL 202k + Wankel car.
91 RX7 SBC Swap
93 RX7 SBC Swap
86 RX7 Ford 5.0 swap
91 Miata Stock
88 Chevy c1500 pickup.

Previous car was a truck, a 1990 Nissan bare-bones truck. I actually kept the truck when I bought my new RX-8 in 2004.

I kept my RX-8 nearly 10 years, trading it in last May for a new 2014 BMW M235i. The RX-8 had only 30k miles on it and was in near-perfect shape. The M235i, BTW, is turning out to be one heck of a nice ride!

I kept the truck for 24 years, giving it to my brother last September. It only had 76,000 miles on it and still runs great. Crappy paint, though.

Last was a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant, a beater car for sure. It wasn't pretty or fun but it got me there.

Before that, I drove a 1989 Ford Thunderbird Supercoupe with the manual tranny. That was a fun car except that I spent more time working on it than driving it and it was hell to work on. You couldn't change the spark plugs without removing the intercooler tubes and AC compressor. The ~350 ft lbs of torque was nice though.

Is that 471,xxx miles and if so how many engines did you go through?

Only reason I ask is cause I've had two acuras myself

1991 Acura integra ls auto- Loved the car but it was an auto.
1992 Acura integra 5 speed- Everything I loved about my first car just sweeter. Saw upgrades to the wheels, tires, exhaust and suspension. Would've kept the car and turbo charged it had I not drowned it in water (long story)

Prior to the RX-8, I had a 2008 Acura TL-S (sold at 270,000 miles) and a 2008 Toyota Tacoma supercharged V6 (still own at 90,000 miles). The Tacoma is my daily, and the RX-8 is my weekend and track toy.

2003 Dodge Dakota HD. Single cab, short wheelbase, 4.7 DOHC V8, very unique in that it was full time all wheel drive with the option to switch to 4Hi or 4Low. Sold it to get the RX-8, but I really should have kept it.

Wow, that's one that's hard to come by. Still, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Depends on how your winters are. My last mods made me put on R compound tires on the 8 for good, so now I have an AWD winter "beater".

In chronological order, my last cars were:

- 2003 Mazdaspeed protege (street-tuned)
- 2003 S2000 (vortech supercharged)
- 2008 STi
- 2005 350Z
- 2001 S2000
- 1974 260Z
- 1988 RX-7 TII (street-ported)
- 2001 Integra Type R

The car that I miss driving the most is the Type R.

No such thing as winter in Florida lol. I just really enjoyed that truck. It was crazy and deceptively quick (surprised a guy in a GT500 lol) and could get me anywhere I wanted to go (sandy mangroves in St Petersburg to wade fish for example).

What was your previous car?

Being a kid I was suckered into trading my 350 for a 370 that I couldn't afford. I brought it back for a voluntary repo, then walked to Carmax and asked for something sporty but cheaper before the repo would hit my credit. Picked up the rx8 for way more than what it's worth ($19,900). I've been duped again. But I'm enjoying the car, and paying it off quickly. Just wish I still had my 08 350z

'99 Toyota Tercel! haha

5 speed, 4 door. It was such a small and basic car. No guts at all, but I loved it. I held on to it for a long time, sold it two years ago to a friend who recently wrote it off in an accident. I was actually sad to hear it had went to the scrapyard.. Still miss it
