VW Beetle issue after towing

(quick version below) So my girlfriend parked in a striped spot (like the one's next to handicapped spots). Well, the spot she was in was next to what used to be a handicapped spot but has been a regular spot for over a year so everyone treats both spots as normal spots... well the apartment complex decided to have a towing night and had 8 cars towed, one of them being hers. We personally think it's kinda BS and the fact they dont enforce it on a regular basis is why it happens. To add to the fun, they chose a place that's around 45 minutes away to have the cars towed.

So, short story: her car got towed.
Point of this thread: her car is now making a loud rattling sound when shifting between park, reverse and drive. Drive to park is the most noticeable one and the most constant. With reverse it doesnt always happens. This didnt happen before (it would have been very obvious). So we picked her car up last night (about 9) and she said she heard a slight vibration/rattle when we were leaving but when I listened I didnt hear anything and it seemed to have gone away then so we thought nothing of it. I've now ridden in her car and it's obvious something isnt right. I had her pop the hood and I took a look. If you watch this video, it should be pretty obvious what it's doing. There's also a rattle in drive when idling at a stop which is probably related but cant be heard in this video.

So, any clue what the hell could be wrong? She'll obviously be getting it checked out, but for now we need to know how major it could be since she has work and such throughout the week. Thanks for any help!

makes sense seeing as it's fwd and she pulled in straight. Is this something the tow company can be held liable for?

Then I guess it's good you werent there and she wasnt parked in a handicapped spot. If that was a complaint about where she parked and not just some random comment, then please try reading next time. She was parked in the striped zone next to what USED to be a handicapped spot. They've removed the paint and the sign from the spot... so now the striped spot that was supposed to act as a wheel chair unloading spot is now just a dead spot for no reason.

They shouldn't hurt your vehicle if they tow it...if they did..they have insurance to pay for it.....

You tend to have to get real aggressive with the company before they will do anything.

Last time I had a problem...I called my insurance company and got them involved...their legal department has much more clout than I do...it was handled very quickly after that
