Question truck won't start in rainy weather

My father owns a GMS Sonoma (probably 2000 or 2001) and I was thinking about driving it when it starts snowing... however, it rained on Saturday and the truck would not start, on Sunday the weather dried up and the truck started on the first try.
Any ideas of what might cause this problem? We think the ignition coil might be getting wet... just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem.

Have you tried taking a hose to the truck and try to start it, and if it doesn't start, since it won't be pouring...you can stand outside and try and find out what is causing it?
